it was much better than the 911. on the race laps tiff had the 911 wiggling all over the place, the R8 kept up nice n easy and was so composed round the corners.

i think it could do with more power

Missed it again, is it up on YourTub yet?!

There are rumours of an R8 with bigger balls - I would suppose the V10 from the S6 would do the trick, or this seemingly just announced twin-turbo V10 from the new RS6 - now that would kick some serious ***!

Was the first 5th gear I've enjoyed for a long time! It's gotta be the R8 over the 911 any day. So much more class!! Of course we're not biased on here are we!?! :mischeif:
'93 S4 Avant now back on the road complete with new shiny go faster bits.

You can't ignore the pedigree of the Porsche, I've been in a few and sure, they're not that special but you just know that it's all wrong but somehow works because ze German engineers wouldn't admit that they were wrong and stuck with it! The geeky engineer in me loves that a lot! R8 is awesome though and to see an Audi genuinely powersliding was something to behold!

              Here

              Ck.
Shocked, exhausted, hosed, bushed, dumped, chipped, mounted, filtered, gauged, packed, intermittantly wiped and braked. I mean broken. Now, about the car...

Seeing how an older 'safe' car (volvo 940) is wiped out by a modern super-mini was a bit of a comedown after the R8 fun.

It's scary to realise that modern cars are designed to use the object they hit as their crumple zone...

They did a smilar thing with two versions of the Renault Espace - the original 1980s version, and the current edition. Head on smash at 30mph, the modern Espace's passengers would emerge completely unharmed: the occupants of the 1980s version would have not survived...

Im lucky enough to get to drive majority of 911's as part of my job, from v early stuff up to new 997 variants. I still havent driven an R8 yet but from what have have read, heard and spoke with testers,it IS apparantly as good as it's made out to be.

Without driving one i cannot comment for sure, but out of the 2 cars i to would probably lean toward the Audi. Having said that, i only caught the tail end of 5th Gear last night and it was pitched against a 997 C4S, in reality, costs of specced R8's are around the £100k mark, that is 997 Turbo and GT3 money.

Plato was on the R8's side, but again, what wasnt mentioned is that in reality his own personal car is a 997 Turbo.

If money was no object and had to choose between C4S and R8 tho, i would def have the R8,love the looks, qurkeyness and Im sure its got the ride to match. Our local dealerships just got a black one and the MD is a big Porsche fan....Im sure i can sort a drive within the nx few weeks..
