I just had a play with an Aston.......

Well, I haven't really had a chance to measure le wagon against anything since owning it. Apart from a fairly even play with a new 911 carrera on way back from remap.

However after a meeting in Diss today on the way home i was reeling a little from client being **** so was happily (and safely) squirting past the slower traffic when i pulled in behind a 56 plate aston martin vantage. Sitting behind in 3rd at 55mph with just a truck in front before a huge straight, i let him go as i saw him drop a gear then i proceeded to pull out behind him. Before he had pulled back in i was heavily gaining on him and he only visibly came off the pedal at around 95mph when I was right upon him. i proceeded to keep the foot down into 4th and pass before settling down again. naughty I know but very clear road for a good mile.

What a surpirse!!! With just a remap and zorst I was expecting a different outcome. I think the way the RS2 puts the power down with the extra wieght and 4wd is fantastic. I have a 987 boxster S and have driven loads of quicker cars but never have I had a smile on my face so much as driving the wagon.

I simply have to stop the urge for more power now. Urgh :mischeif:

I practically sucked the doors off a V8 Vantage as I overtook it in a 996 Turbo at Prestwold Hall - They just can't hack it through the bends against Turboed 4x4 German metal, but I guess they do look quite nice though... :mischeif:

yeah stunning looking car. Just read the specs on them and not surprised I was quite a bit quicker. 60 mph in 5.1 seconds and consumes the quarter-mile in 13.3 seconds at 106 mph. Not as quick as I thought they would be.....

'sucked the doors off' yak yak yak yak. I'm having that one for future use.

think about 13.5secs for standard quarter perhaps a little slower? My 987 porker is 0-100 in 11.8 secs and feels slower than the rs2 does now. Definitely bottom end.

I did find though that standard the rs2 seemed to lack grunt anything past 85. Remap has added heaps more torque and now pulls through 3rd and 4th with ease.Google it and you'll find the quarters i'm sure....

I had a go in one this week!
I thought the old RS2 would give it a run for its money in straight acceleration race.
They are super nimble though, NO way would you keep up on track.
Very nice piece of kit, felt so compossed.
Seating position is just perfect, just feels like part of your body!

They do a pro drive upgrade from 380bhp to 430bhp, bigger brakes etc,£6000!

Yes Rob, definitely a beautiful piece of kit. Remember I'm used to my porker so the rs2 will never handle the same. So fun to play with the unsuspecting though hey....
