Well i've just had an interesting few days in Russia. Back in Finland again to relative normality and then back to Scotland at the end of the month. So anyway I spent most of my time laughing at the local cars and thought i'd share my findings
Now i'm not one to reinforce stereotypes but 75% of the cars had to be ladas. 10% were volgas or other mad russian machines and teh rest were a mix of old cars of all sorts and the very odd new car. It was actually really weird to see a 207 or something drive past.

They say god loves a trier. But he also doesn't like blasphemy so the owner of this beast will be rotting in siberia for his efforts. Think it's a samara but I didn't hang about too long to check.

sweet taxi

This isn't car related. I was just amused at the spelling

Trying to get a pic of a cop wagon subtly so they throw me in the back and give me a good shoeing

I've seen a couple of these lada 4x4 things in Britain but i've now taken a strange liking to them. my dad almost bought one many years ago. Think it was called a cossak. 3 door convertible lada 4x4. about 10bhp probably. I kind of want to get one home and see if I can get a 20v audi engine into it. maybe it's the vodka. hmmm

The roads are **** enough in Russia but then you get the likes of this buggr that took us out of town to the wife's family dacha (kind of a self built summercottage with electricity and water and an outside toilet. most ruskies have them). 18km of the most mental potholed mayhem i've experienced. we were trundling along doing 30 to 40km/h in my father in law's Shogun and some mentalist in a Lada Riva overtook us doing some kind of silly speed. There were Lada carcasses here and there at the side of the road but I couldn't let go of my son to take another pic in case he went over the back seat.

the dacha. quite fancy this idea. you buy a wee bit of land beside a lake for pennies, forget any building regulations and just have a go at building something yourself. Then spend your summers in it and keep building bits onto it until it falls down. Hopefully not round your ears.

Volga-tastic

Think i've got more on my phone if I can figure out how to bluetooth them to a computer running windows vista in finnish. ???
anyway.. that's my nonsense for now. Kept me away from looking bored shitless while the dodgy russian soaps are on.
