There are certain rubbers and plastics that are not bio-thanol friendly so you need to make sure the fuel system is changed accordingly. I started looking into this myself but stopped when I found the nearest fuel station was 50miles way.

Seems that morrisons have alot of fore courts in east anglia selling the stuff so thats not a problem for me

1 litre of petrol has more energy than 1 litre of E85 So the size of the fuel pump and injectors have to increased to deliver more fuel, which means less MPG than petrol
ethenol is cheaper than petrol but not sure on the price differance?

E85 has an octane rating between 105-108, basically racing fuel.
E85 is a colder burning fuel than petrol which means you are able to increase boost levels, without increasing charge temps.

Who where you thinking of tuning the car for you Andy ?

Dave walker tuned some cars on E85, i think one of them was his own porsche converted to an emarald ecu and i think it made about another 30hp over regular fuel.

He wrote about it in past issues of practical performance car and i think you use a different A/F ratio to get results.

Thats where I got the idea from, Dave Walker converted his 924 Turbo to run on E85 and got really good results.
I never really got as far as looking for a tuner, I just got excited at the thought of cheap 105ron fuel!!

Yes i have found out on another forum that Gasoline is 14.7:1 and E85 fuel is 9.7:1 which are their stochyimeteric rates which means that the a/f ratio is completly differerent when tuning motors on e85.

Gringo here on S2forum, the owner of www.80quattro.com got great results with E85... using 034 IIc..

                  98 octane : 606HK@7470 / 642NM@6300
                  Racefuel: 672HK@7190 / 692NM@6440
                  E85 : 680HK@6990 / 710NM@6290

                  I want E85!

Particularly good on turbo engines due to colder burning and ability to increase boost levels as previously mentioned. The biggest problem is it's current lack of widespread availability (which hopefully will improve in the future). You could always get an aftermarket ecu and run seperate maps for petrol and bio-ethanol....

Dam right its good on Turbo motors

Would an experianced tuner be able to map the motronic managment to run E85 then, or is standalone managment required

Thats Just what i wanted too hear Zlobo was it just a matter of changing injectors and fuel pump for increased flow rate for the ethenol or was their any super special componants to install ?

                            Thanks Jon.

                              No special things..
only change fuel filter. and put a 040 in the tank to be shure you have fuel.
And then a custum remap of the box.

if you use e85 wit a standard s2 tank you suld never leave the tank nerly empty a long time you shuld fill it upp . to stop the corrosion in the tank, it culd happen if you have a bad tank.
