Sounds like Jim's old car (BLU ?) - it has a homebrew from me some years ago - VERY nice car. It had HiSpec brakes for a while, but those were removed before sale to keep it stock looking. I really wanted to buy it when he told me it was for sale but just couldnt stretch the funds. Just wish I'd done it now.
It was a last in line special with half alcantara seats and a glass sunroof. Had the sports wheel with airbag as well. Just a damn nice car... Only had 70k miles on it circa 2002-3 from memory.
Apparently the dealership that imported it held onto it as long as they could before registering it on a 'P' plate and it was allegedly driven by one of the senior dudes at that dealership before Jim got it.
Hahah - See Dave hasn't forgotten it either... Dave, Jim and I (along with a guy called Ben) had the 1st ever meeting of the S2 forum in a pub car park nr Maidenhead a LONG time ago. Seems like ancient history.
yeah that WAS years ago, along with Ben with H5 CYL, wonder what ever happened to that one too?
Jim's 'Blu' was gorgeous and I too spent too long trying to get the funds together to buy it. in the end the closest I got was changing the capliers back to standard before it was part-ex'd.
