I ain't no chuffin Geordie, but it isn't that bad. Friendly people (when you can understand them, I know I can't at times) and some nice ladies in the normal nightclubs. Good and bad where ever you go.
Those images in that youtube vid are just what you'd find in any other major city either in the UK or elsewhere.

I'm 30 miles away in Durham.

Anyway the north east was settled/invaded by the vikings i believe, presumably thats why there seems to be a high percentage of tasty blond flange around.

Not all about the nightlife either I suppose. It has some good museums, old buildings etc.
Durham to the south has the Cathedral and Castle, Bowes museum down in Barnard Castle (I went to school next door to there, HATED the place ), Finkle Abbay, loads of Roman forts and settlements etc. Further north you have Bamburgh Castle , Chillingham Castle (supposedly the most haunted in the UK, if you believe in that kind of stuff)
You are at most an hour away from some of the best driving roads in England, the Lakes District, the Penines, the North York moors, places like Scarborough and Whitby and the also Cheviots all have some great roads and scenery around them. Northumberland has some of the cleanest and best beaches on the east side of the UK, you are only an hour and a half away from Scotland.

I have a local specialist I trust with my car, they'd be able to look after an RS2, in fact they already look after two already. Theres also a good specialist in Hexham.

Quick google search brought up this website >>> here, seems to offer a lot of resources.

I'm typing this looking out the window at the Tyne Bridge
I live in Durham and work in Newcastle, however lived in Newcastle for 23 years and it's a great place!
If your after hustle, bustle, shops, pubs and clubs the place in great, on the flip side if your after quiet roads and peaceful countryside etc. you never have to travel far, North, East, South or West
As Jas mentions, a good few specialist garages available to look after your motor.
Many of the southeners complain about the weather, but it's just they like to complain (fairies ), two big airports nearby that will allow you to jet off somewhere sunny!
Being nosey, you a doctor of medicine?
