    air temp sesor help

Right, managed to rip this off when i pulled the engine out...doh

Need some help with soldering, tried it yesterday but just didn't secure te wires properly, any ideas?

Failing that does anyone have an ABY 2 piece one sat somewhere (plug and sensor version).

I will try again later but this might be the part that trips me up after everything i have done on the car as it's on backorder with Audi and I need it asap

David, I did mine some time back

You need two people so you can get enough solder on the little bar steward

Try to get a hold of one of the mini blowtorches mate. A lot of teh gas soldering irons have different heads so you can use a metal soldering tip or a very small naked flame. get the naked flame at it (not too close though) to heat the sh it out of it. Or if you get enough solder on, even if it's messy, you could use the flame to try to get the solder to melt down and attach better.

i'm off to see if the sensor on mine is there or missing....

We should have given that a go before I left on sunday as it was at the top of the engine, still it looked like it was going well beforehand. Good luck sorting it.

Take a small file, and get some surface of one side of contacts (cut at the point where wire attaches pin). This is to make shure, that you are soldering copper, not coating. Factory somehow contact welds the pin and the wire, and coats whole thing in something, that is not gets soldered.

I don't know how to express this in words, but when I solder those little *******s, i usually do that (on 10v and on 3b).

I have seen ABY connector just put on the 3b loom, and ABY sensor installed (on 3b). Donce has such thing on his car. Dunno if it's good or wrong, but I have some my own suspicions about sensor interchangeability. So it's better to solder old one.

Don't forget to put on rubber boot BEFORE soldering. Don't ask why I know that

doing a bit of digging they are definately interchangeable as the ABY superceeds the 3b (NLA)....

would the car drive with just limp mode if its not getting the Intake temp sensor data to the ecu????
              Cheers

Possibly, you might just have to take it out for a drive and just see, could you not borrow that guys crimping tools again and slide a terminal over each connection and join them up for the time being, btw did you sort the one under the front pulley?
