Audi S4 2.7bi turbo ownership good idea?

Guys i am going to invest into a S4, After having a ride in a few now.

Can anyone sugest why it might not be such a good idea or point out and problems that i may see with one?

This will not be a replacement for my S2

    Cheers James

I replaced my S2 with a B5 S4 Avant and love it. I do miss the S2 but as u are keeping yours this wont be an issue for you. Basically do your homework on them and make sure u get one that has been well cared for. Turbos can go and on pre facelift there is a manifold problem that can also be costly. Once Turbos go most decide to go the KO4 route which with a map, injectors, fuel pump and intercoolers should see other side of 400hp. rs246.com has loads of info have a look over there.

      hey

mostly these are good cars, look out for worn turbos as that is an engine out job. No special faults on these cars, check for leaks.

my mate bought one at the same time i got my s2 , he loves it, then he got mrc to remap it, says it the best money he ever spent.

it's a nicer car to live with than a s2 this is mostly down to the fact that it's newer, but then his cost him twice as much as my s2 cost me.

Nice cars like I commented, just felt more refined than the s2 which is why i'm going to stick with that at present. Good luck with your hunt tho.

I've always been tempted for an S4 or RS4 as a replacement for my S2 but as Jeffer pointed out during the dinner at the Sept. Ring Meet. "As long as they run, they're great but then if you have to replace something that's located in the engine bay, it's almost always an egine out job which takes 2 days with 2 people to do And that's just to take the engine out and put it back in again, not the repair..."
He did Mihnea's clutch once and said it was a bloody nightmare and he hope he never has to do it again...

I have to admit that his rhetoric did scare me off a bit as my wallet isn't bottomless

s4/rs4 seems quite a bit less problematic than an s2 mostly due to the age and newer design, plenty of rs4 goodies about to use too, shouldnt find it too difficult to find a good one
