I'm more Queensryche for that kinda stuff - saw them twice - back to back on the MIndcrime tour... Just brilliant. Saw Rush last week for 3rd time - superb.

Ehhh who else is my thing - Vanden Plas (rubbish name I know, but if you like DT, then you'll love VP). Kings X also gets special note from me with anything a bit different and edgy from the musical norm of tastes.

Also go for Ozzy, ACDC, LedZep, Purple, Rainbow, Hendrix, Aerosmith, Queen and a lot of other guitar oriented stuff. Showing my colours their as a fat balding aging rocker now aren't I

They are a damn fine group of musicians that just seem to get better with age!! Mike Portnoy is one of my heros. I take it he had a suitably monster kit for the show? I saw them in Hammersmith on the "Six degrees of inner turbulence" tour and that was fantastic. Beaten only by The Dave Matthews Band in Wembley and Dave Matthews with tim Reynolds at Manchester, both this year.
'93 S4 Avant now back on the road complete with new shiny go faster bits.

I've heard of Vanden Plas, but never actually listened to them.

Yeah, Mike had a huge kit. 2 kits actually...
One with 2 bass drums, and one with one bass drum.
This was the third time i've seen them, and definitely the best.

Symphony X were supporting. They were very good, but weren't nearly as good as DT.

God, after hearing them nonstop at work next to the likes of Killswitch Engage and older Slipknot I am tired of that.

Deftones however is unfortunately I missed them in Cambridge U this year
