Previous Owners

I don't know about the rest of you guys but I would love to meet the previous owners of my avant. Especially the guy who put it back together after it was smashed in 2000.
Id like to shake him by theNECK!!!

He shouldn't be allowed near a gokart let alone a car.

Sorry for the rant but everytime I start what seems to be a simple job some of his handy work pops up to make it ridiculously difficult.

Was it registered to a guy named Gary from Birmingham?
It looks like one I went to see for my brother who was considering buying an avant.

sure there must be a couple of us that feel like that about certain things, had mine a month before decided it was time for an engine rebuild

Thats the one. I bought it off a bloke called stephen williams but its's the same car. How much were they asking for it? I knocked him down to £3175 for £4750.

I knew it was a write off in 2000 (Full HPI for free - another main dealer perk) but I was looking for a project. I've had the whole fornt end removed and rebuilt with new parts as it should have been in the first place. It's just the bodges that aren't related to the accident that get me. Still such are the pleasures of owning a used motor car.

I think he (Gary) wanted 4 grand for it but ended up part exchanging it for a T5. He did tell me that it had been damaged (front end) when he bought it.

Do you find the 1st to 2nd gear change awkward?

Very difficult at first. Often ended up in reverse instead of first as well. The linkage wasn't set up and the bushes at the bottom of the gear lever were worn out. They've been replaced and the linkage is setup properly now and it's much better.
