i am considering buying a 06 reg a3 2.0T with a dsg box. Its done 78k, has had one dsg service. I havent had a look at it yet but im told everything with the car is in great condition, seems like a genuine guy. I know that doesnt mean much in this day an age.
Is it a bad idea buying a 12year old car with a dsg box?
It's like any auto box. If it goes wrong, it's big bucks! The maintenance schedule on my DSG is 37K miles. The car should be ready for its second gearbox oil change based on mileage. This is a £220+ service for the box alone if done by a main dealer. May also be worth have the adaption set for the clutch packs too. Not sure if it's the same for the early cars, but this can be done with Vagcom or OBDeleven on later vehicles.
