  • urS6 Heater doesn't make hot air to blow ?

My RHD '96 urS6 has electronic air conditioning, like a LHD RS2, it blows cools air fine, but when the temperature setting is put to say "Hi" it blows as per normal, but the air is not in any way hot.

Engine warms up as per it's engine temperture gauge and the car is running fine in all other respects.

Does any one know why it does not blow hot air ?

Would like to fix it before the weather gets properly cold.

    Thanks.

The HVAC on the C4 uses small stepper motors to move the various flaps to direct flow and blend air temperature. These are notorious for giving trouble after all these years. Bladerunner on the Audifans used to have a thread about removing and repairing these motors.
I have a '95 C4 2.5tdi Avant which is off the road, so you can have a spare motor if needed.

I used to keep the header tank marginally overfilled. I put it down to air trapped in the system.

Likewise if you want the heater module from the urS4 it's there

          Heater servo motors

Have a look at these links. This issue has been done to death on this forum over the years.

Here's a link to a guide for rebuilding the servo motors.

I had the same problem, everything worked ok but no hot air.. take out the dash unit remove the front panel from it. You will see that both parts are connected with multipin connectors into the circuit board. Check that all pins are making contact with the board. In my case this was the problem, the pins had come away from the board and it was easy to push them back and melt some solder around so they would stay in place.

Now I have hot air and it was a simple fix, if you have a unit that you know to work from another car change it in and you will know straight away if its the problem.

Pull the climate control codes to narrow down the issue:
