  • What happened to euroaddicton

    I had a link saved for a rainy day - a great guide on a B6/B7 S4 engine removal - it was hosted on www.euroaddiction.net .

That site appears to be dead now - unless someone knows of a new home/name for it ?

There was actually quite good coverage of articles and guides for the B6/B7 S4 owner on there and one author was particularly technical & adept in making good guides - I *almost* printed the engine pull article just in case - wish I had now as I cannot find anything like as useful anywhere else on line.

I can probably manage myself, but its super useful when someone has a good BTDT.

Anyone know what happened to that website - surely I wasn't the only one using it and an online search for WTF happened isnt turning up anything useful ;-)

By fluke as much as anything else - today I found the B6/B7 S4 engine pull guide that I was looking for on some weird archive site. I cannot take any credit for this - its all the work of someone called Joey on euroaddiction.net which now appears to be a defunct site - pity as there were some great 'how to' guides on there. I have PDF's this one - all 80+ pages if it helps fellow B6/B7 owners - the task isn't for the faint hearted !

Cannot say I fancy undertaking that anytime soon.
I will keep serving up quality oil and say a nightly prayer.
My engine was actually pulled by Audi before I owned it, the owner complained of start up noises, the garage inspected it and changed the chain guides.

Yeah it was a good site, not sure what happened to it. Odd as it was quite busy, not like a ghost town like Audifans
I have to say the yank B6/B7 crowd are far more hands on and DIY orientated than our cheque book wielding UK owners on SRS who are afraid to take the engine covers off

In our defence, I would work on my car more often if I lived in say Naples Florida, but I know what you mean.
It is good to get to know the idiosycracies of your vehicle by spending time spinning a spanner, besides I find most mechanics are just plain pants or want to rip you off.

            ^^^ So True Alex ^^^

I need to get Lazarus to a certain point over this winter/spring (somehow around other "wonderful" house projects which take priority and time) before I can look forward to any largish jobs on the B6... I have a horrible feeling that my oil excess oil consumption is not exclusively caused by valve cover oil seals (but I daren't test cylinder compression yet).

I also forgot that my power steering pump howls like a banshee and feels heavy under load (some **** had red fluid in there before my time) - almost feels like it would be easier to pull out the engine and do all those horrible jobs (including chain guides) on the bench... and remove primary CATs at the same time... and fit lightened pulley etc... just money money money... and I have away enough on my plate right now to even consider it.

Somebody once asked me would I give up working on cars when I reach retirement age - I said no effing way as owing old Audis means there is an infinite number of problems, projects, retrofits to keep any old man from going senile... though maybe not sane lol... maybe I will take up bee-keeping instead !

The old BBK does drink a lot of oil, I probably put about half a litre in every 1000 miles or so.
The cam covers are a real pain, I have already replaced the gaskets and they still weep, straight down onto the manifolds. The covers warp. The engineers clearly knew there was a problem as the B7 had a revised design that apparently solves it with a composite type cover material but as you can guess, silly money to replace them.

I already bought the B7 covers - at great expense as u say - just not fitted as doing very few miles lately. Agree completely the B6 metal ones are crap quality. The fact the inner coating shreds off as flakes of paint just adds I insult to injury there. Hans and Franz must have had a bad day thinking that nonsense up.
