Certainly a good price - does anyone know more about this car?

Bar the elipsoids, looks like a very original early car. If i had the cash spare I'd have it to restore for my collection

Went to have a look at that car.
        Here is what ive found:

        Exterior:
Paintwork is in HORRIBLE condition. Its probably been sprayed with a spray can and its faded as well.
Both front wings have rust in multiple spots
Roof has some rust next to the windshield
        Front bumper cracked.
        Rear bumper chipped
Door handle slightly out of place
Door sags down majorly after you open the door.
        Wheels need refurbing

Thats about it for exterior. To summarise, its in really bad shape.

        Interior:
Heated seats work on driver seat, not on passenger
        Door card leathers sagging
        Headliner about to start sagging
Center display in the clocks is shot
white coating on the speedometer is flaking off
Water temp gauge does not work
Speedometer majorly lagging from the actual speed
Most ambient lights either are very dim or dont work at all
Headlight adjuster mechanism does not work
Ambient temperature display was not working
interior is mostly black, however the headliner and A,B,C trims are white
Rubber trim on the end of the doors are missing

All in all, interior is ok ish, but needs work everywhere

        Mechanically:
        Clunks from suspension on bumps
Clunk when you shift from first to second
Exhaust shield falled down at the back of the car
Not sure if the quattro system is working
        Rear diff leaking oil
Definately does not pull like 220 hp, eventhough the seller said its mechanically sound (my 300k + mile 2.6 v6 coupe pulls much stronger)
Power steering pump noisy and power steering does not work properly past like 90 degrees of steering input.

All in all, its an ok car if you want a BIG project, however when i calculated what i wanted to do to it, it wasnt feasible for me.

It was 7995 not so long ago before it was polished. A friend of mine knows the seller and the seller got it for 3500. That would be about right.

I wouldnt say it was polished. There were quite a fun runs in the paint and it looked faded.

I've seen it and that's how I remember it, the photo on ebay is doing it a favour!

                yeah, thats true.
The seller didnt want to go down in price. If it went down to around 4-4.5k and you put a bit of money in the suspension and engine, it would be a decent car, as long as you dont want it to be in perfect condition

Interesting, thanks for the heads up. Basically you could pay the asking price again on parts etc and doing it up - and the car still would not be right.

I can vouch for that! Doing up these cars is not a cheap hobby

Hmm typical car salesman bull5hit, I bought a car from these people 2 years ago got the train up from Devon to Leicester and find that the mileage had an extra 30k on the clock and fuel gauge didn’t work, “we’ll send you the service history in the post” yes of course you will.....

this paricular s2 first came on the market at £9895 by the same people some months ago and it looked appalling all they appear to have done is washed it and a polish
