I traced this car back to the last 4 owners before me (back to 2004), all of whom are well known on the S2forum and all have nothing but good things to say about this car. I’m sure if you were really keen you could go even further back and find other forum members who have owned this car. The mileage is high, but if you know anything about S2s mileage means very little on these engines, its how well they have been maintained over the years that counts.
Back in 2019 it had slowly been losing a bit of coolant and we found the head gasket was leaking. The head was removed and found the gasket had gone a little bit to the outside and not into the bores. Block/bores were in great condition so this wasn't touched. Head was given a very light skim and rebuilt. New timing belt kit etc when refitted.
This car has been my daily driver for the most part of my ownership and has also been on quite a few big trips as well.
2021 maintenance:
New Vredestein Ultra Satin tyres (done less than 500 miles)
Oil change Fuchs 10w50 OE filter May 2021
New rear nearside brake calliper
Pair new front Koni adjustable shocks
Of course it has some bad points -
tailgate is starting to bubble beneath the wiper
mpg display has bled out (have a replacement but not fitted yet)
electric windows don't always work (this happens randomly and has always sorted itself within an hour)
lower rubber door trims could do with being replaced as they are showing their age
I have owned this car since 2013 and never thought i'd put it up for sale. However things change and i hope this car will go to someone who will use it and enjoy it as much as i have over the years.
I have probably forgotten a lot, but if anyone is seriously interested then pls PM me on the forum.
I will get some up to date photos of the car in the next post.
