  • Audi V8 - Rat am Ring - now with pictures

The time has come to sell the V8. I've had a year of mucking about in it including a trip to the ring and a new project has arrived.

    The basics:

    1991 3.6 V8 Auto
    Pearl White
    141k miles
    Climate control
    Power everything
    5 months tax
will have 12months MOT if you want it.

    The bad bits:

Bodywork could only be described as scabby.
    Exhaust needs work.
'Bit' of blue smoke on over run.

    Now the good bits:

    Factory fit torsen rear diff
    Bilstein B6 dampers/Nothelle springs
    HP2 front struts
    28mm OE Sport front ARB
    OE BBS 8x16" 5x112 et35 Alloys

The way I see it it would make a good choice either for someone wanting bits for their UrS4/6 or with the tax and ticket you could run it around for 5 months then break it.

I'm looking for around £600 with full MOT but if you don't need an MOT on it I'm open to offers.

    Ben

Of course, the engine could accidentally find itself in a CQ or 80q along with the torsen diff and the wheels too If only I had the time, money... and energy

I will be when the new one is on the road. I'm estimating my fuel bill for the drive to work will drop from £250 a month to around £60 (when using a 50/50 blend of diesel and tax free vegetable fuel)

Interior is nautic blue connolly leather (genuinely, it was a cost option) with electric memory front seats. It is showing it's age with some wear on the seat edges. Pictures are now in the first post - On the dash picture the trim isn't fitted under the steering wheel. This is only because I haven't got around to putting it back in.

I forgot to mention originally that all the suspension parts will be a straight swap onto an UrS4/S6.

It is currently fitted with a nice vintage alpine stereo setup (used to be in Doug's S2) which I don't really want the hassle of removing so will include in the price.

            It consists of:

CVA1000R In dash flip out screen
            ERA G320 Alpine Audi Processor
            CHA-S624 6 disc autochanger
            2 x MRP-T130 amplifiers
4" polk audio coaxials front speakers
6.25" MB Quart component rear speakers

I have the following extra alpine bits that haven't been fitted which I will chuck in:
NVE N055PV Alpine CD rom Sat nav system with map
            TUET012 Alpine mobile TV Tuner

There is also a 12" infinity kappa sub driven by alpine MRV-T707 but I will be keeping this unless I get a decent offer to leave it in.

I don't think the £600 asking price is unreasonable given the amount of decent bits that are on it, nor the rarity of the car.

Ben, it's a bloody steal ot £600...unfortunately for me, my interest in it would be killed off by the value of the lawyers I'd need to go through a divorce over it

                Wow
                That is some ICE installation.
Must have taken f###ing days to put that lot in?

I dont suppose it has the rare 'Trellis' stealth amp rack?

Good luck with the sale Ben, this is a lot of car for the money.
I have driven this beast, the chassis felt very tight and the noise from the exhaust is intoxicating.

Cheers, although I must confess to not feeling overly capable at the moment ... but happily and sadly it will be around 6 weeks of V8 joy, abuse and large fuel bills until I get the rework on the A6Q TDi done. (S4/6 front end, repaired rear arch and then new head gasket and ARP bolts + 2056 VNT. Idea being C4 S6 performance with 45mpg...)

I will hopefully have a blast over the next wee while and will be ticking the V8 box in my list of cars to own. I had it started up yesterday and it sounds superb

Truth is, I'd love to be able to hang on to the V8, but I can't live with the reality of 15- 26 mpg. The old girl will not die in vain, she will live on in the A6...
