Can't believe the lack of interest I've had in a 3 owner car in this condition. I've bought a couple of cars over the years with the intention of replacing the S2 but I could never bring myself to do it. Now unemployment has finally forced me to put it on the market nobody seems to want it. Anyone?
Now you can see the reason so many have been broken for spares, most people on the forum own at least one S2 and we all know just how much money they drain.
Best of luck with the sale have you tried eBay yet?
Distance to find a good s2 should be worth the trip, I did a 4 1/2 hr + journey for mine and i'm glad I did, the amount of money it saved to get one that was a forum owned car and people had seen before makes the difference. Plus at the rate avants are getting broken this is going to be a rare car (well more rare than it already is, ask dest as he does the register)
Ive been looking for a while, and the avants seem to sell pretty quick, dont know if they are being broke for bits, but whichever one I end up with certainly wont be.
I'd be interested in it but it's hours away from me.
You cant afford to be picky with an S2, you HAVE to be prepared to travel for a good one. If you want to wait for a good one to be for sale on your door step you are in for a long wait!
Look at it this way, youve only got to drive there once, and you get a nice long drive home to play with your new toy
Ive got 13 silver ones on the register, including this one

Your old avant was on my doorstep and it was that car that sparked my interest in an S2, tbh I've almost given up on an S2 now and I'm looking at B6 1.8T avant quattro's as well, a pale imitation but more practical for everyday use probably. I agree it's worth travelling if you get the car you want but there's always the chance of driving for hours and being disapointed.
