I have been deliberating the sale of my beloved S2 for a while now, due to the fact that since moving into central London i barely get to go out and have some fun in her, i end up spending most of the time zipping around the city on my 125 YBR, and only get to go out for a drive when im either going up to yorkshire to visit family, or if its on a midnight cruise around london.
Due to the lack of use, and the relatively high running costs I just cant justify keeping a car and therefore am selling up and using the money to put towards my Direct Access Bike test and a bigger bike, and this is the only reason why im having to part ways.
Anyway moving onto the car.
- 1994 ABY S2 Coupe.
- 165,000 miles .
- Full Black Leather Interior with Wood trim.
- Tax Untill Aug 2011.
- MOT expires 18th March 2012 (A CV boot was the only thing that needed fixing to get her through the MOT this year).
- Two Folders full of reciepts from myself and three previous owners, showing the thousands of pounds that have been spent to keep her in top condition, with parts and work carried out mainly from Audi/German car specialists.
- Full Stainless steel scorpion exhaust.
- Black Diamond Disks and Pads.
- Thatcham Category 1 Toad Alarm (Still have certificate of installation for insurance purposes).
- Genuine 18" Audi 9 Spoke Wheels.
- Spax Springs.
- Boost Gauge.
- Power Assisted Steering.
- Electric Windows.
- Immobiliser.
- Hpi Clear.
An Engine rebuild was carried out at 135000 miles, the following work was done:
- Replaced Crankshaft and Shells,
- Resize Con rods
- Hone Bores
- Replaced Pistons and Piston Rings
- New Seals and Gaskets
- New Timing Belt Kit
- New Water Pump
- Refurbished Cylinder Head and new Head Bolts
- New oil, filters and anti freeze.
As with all cars their are some Bad points and these are as follows:
- Registered on a Q plate, the whole story behind this is substantial, but to cut a long story short, the car was stolen and had a lot of its identity markings removed, and was re registered as a coupe quattro on plate C16 MJD, the owner before me, (Nic Philpot) who was a forum member as well, purchased the car thinking it was a Coupe with a conversion, but after been advised by other forum geeks that it had all the features of an S2 he spent a lot of time and money trying to prove this, and as such is why the car is now on Q plates, I have verified that the car is in fact an original S2 and have documentation to prove.
- The Air Con doesn't work and never has since i have been the owner, i didnt see the point in getting it fixed as it doesn't get hot enough in this country, i even went to Germany last august and the lack of air con didn't bother me. I know the problem isn't due to the system needing re-gassing as the previous owner tried this but it didnt fix the problem as gas was escaping quicker than they could put it in.
- The car was broken into and the drivers steering lock was damaged, the previous owner replaced the key barrel but this means a different key is required to open the drivers door and the passengers door, this have never been a problem as the central locking unlocks both doors anyway.
- The Headunit is not great at all. It always works however is selective of how many speakers it wants to use to play songs, this varies literally track to track on a CD.
Apart from these little niggles the car is in a excellent mechanical condition and has been well maintained, i will be giving her a substantial clean tomorrow and will have some pictures up tomorrow.
Im asking £3500 but am open to offers.
