Rare standard and original 1992 ‘J’ Audi S4 ( URS4 ) Quattro Avant in Tornado Red. 6 speed manual model with 3 previous owners from new. Comes with Full Service History with all old MOT’s and huge file of bills/invoices etc.
The specification includes original black Quattro front Sport seats, All-round electric windows, Central locking, Split-folding rear seats, Load bay cover, Power Steering, Integrated front fog lamps, Leather steering wheel and that legendary Quattro four wheel drive system. Factory options fitted include Electric tilt/slide sunroof, Headlight power wash and Automatic climate control.
It’s completed a relatively low 167k miles in it’s 20 years and has just been serviced. It has just passed it’s MOT first time and is beautifully original throughout including period Sony Stereo with 6 disk autochanger, 16” 5 spoke alloy wheels and switchable ABS system with locking rear differential – perfect for the upcoming snow!
It drives and runs brilliantly with no rattles or smoke. The oil pressure is as new at the full 5 bar, as is the boost from the 5 original cylinder turbocharged 20 valve UR Quattro engine. The gearbox and clutch work fine and it has just had new rear brakes fitted (front’s recently done). The tyres are all in good condition and the front shocks and a rear suspension upper link have also been replaced meaning the ride and handling are excellent. In summary it drives without fault and goes/stops/feels very well. It’s never been chipped, modified etc.
The interior in particular is in very good condition with no obvious wear to the seats, steering wheel, switches, gear knob etc. The exterior is in good shape with no damage/dents and all trim/badges in place. Audi S4’s were galvanised from new so there is no rust anywhere. The Audi S4 / S2 also shares the same basic engine, gearbox and four wheel drive transmission as the legendary 315PS Audi RS2 model which also shared components from various Porsche models.
Its HPI clear and qualifies for very cheap classic insurance. Its actually 2 insurance groups lower than the later and more common S6 (URS6) models even though it is identical mechanically. It is fullt HPI clear, has never been involved in an accident and it has happily returned between 24 and 32 mpg during my ownership. A rare, fast (150mph top speed, sub 7 seconds to 60mph), rally-bred and appreciating old school (skool?!) classic that looks fantastically original and unspoiled. Viewings highly recommended and any inspections are welcome.
