Saying matt black and stupid bike carbs doesn't narrow it down much to be honest! Seems to be the thing at the minute - either that or nato green paint and horrible rattly diesel!
I'm more of an individualist,it's still white and I haven't dropped it onto its backside - it's still at standard ride height - call me old fashioned but I've always believed you should be able to carry stuff in a commercial vehicle and I quite like not shattering my spine when I run over a pebble! I'm also not a big fan of bump steer especially when it's running a chipped and pullied G60 and 200+ bhp which makes it 'interesting' to drive anyway!

Right people I've just picked it up and need help already!
Car drives lovely until you stick your foot to the floor and then it doesn't want to know - just backs right off and won't boost, didn't do it on the testdrive which is bloody typical!
Had a quick look on here and can see a million things it could be like boost leaks/maf connectors/wastegate springs etc - give me an idea of where to start!
Does it in any gear at any revs and starts when the boost comes on and only at full throttle - throttle also takes some pushing to get to the floor at the end of its travel if that helps.
          Cheers in advance,Chris.

Yep, report the fault codes here. It sounds like a (fairly typical) boost leak. One of the intake hoses will be split or loose. You will need a laptop and VAGcom or an led fault code reader. See www.s2central.net for reference.

Nice looking Avant you have there.

              Cheers,

                Don't Panic!!

Ask the man who knows this car...it did this on the test drive when I went to see it yet I still bought it.

It's most likely the MAF connector. Pull it off, give the pins a good clean and it should be right for a while. There's a post on here about pulling the pins out and cleaning them properly but the above worked fine for me. Clearing the codes after is also a good idea.

By the way, where are you located? Would be nice to see the old girl again if you're local.

Sorted - at least for the time being.
Just gave the maf connector a wiggle and it seems to have cured it!
I'm in Stockport so not a million miles away from you and I have the occasional bimble upto Blackburn,so could have a wander over at somepoint to reunite you with the old girl!
Chuffed to bits with it now that it's boosting properly!
Some bloody frightening bills in the history from the main stealers - I thought my Integrale was bad!

Glad that sorted it for you. It should hold our for a while but does ideally need fixing properly. It's embarassing when the Saxo boys are at the side of you and it happens. The power on full throttle does feel great...and remember there's 280ish horses under the bonnet.

Thankfully most of the expensive stuff has been done on the car over the last 20k miles so will last a while yet.

Cheers bud, will get it over to you at some point - there must be some mountain bike riding near you that I can use as an excuse!
Only 1 thing I can fault you on and thats the fact your 80sport was a series 2!
Would kill for a mint series 1 in alpine white still striped up (despite mine being a VERY scruffy tornado pink/milky colour - yes it had faded that badly!) first 'proper' car I ever had.

Can't believe I have to do this but owing to massive change in personal circumstances I am going to have to let this go after only 2 months
We have not settled in our house since being burgled and I am going from a commute of 6 miles on my push iron to a 40 mile round trip - in money terms from 3 bits of maltloaf a morning to £10 of fuel! If anybody can tell me how to get 40 miles to the maltloaf out of an S2 please let me know...
This coupled with the impending mahoosive rise in my mortgage means I can't justify the expense and our happiness is more important than the car unfortunately.I'll get a proper advert up when I can but for now if you click on the ebay link on the first page pics are still there.
                        MOT October
                        Tax end of the month
Massive service history - over £20k in receipts and fully stamped up book!
Full professional respray in original Ragusa - bar the roof.
                        153k
£3795 and I'll take something horrible and diesely upto a grand in part ex as long as its VAG.
And if anybody knows somebody who wants a '68 early bay tintop and has £10k to spend point them in this direction!
I'm off to earlybay to stick that on there then I'm going to sit in a dark corner and cry for a bit...

Shame when things change and the car has to be gotten rid of.. I am in the same boat as yourself at the moment but everytime I decide to sell the car I back out..
