    Audi S2 Coupe

I have an Audi S2 Coupe that I have owned for 11 years. Unfortunately I am no longer able to justify the running costs as it is only being used very occasionally as a second car.

The car is a left hand drive, imported from Germany by the previous owner in 1998. I bought the car in 2001. I did have an accident in 2002 which resulted in damage to the offside wing and light cluster. This was repaired as part of an insurance claim. From February 2005 to December 2009 the car was declared SORN and kept in a garage. I got it back on the road in late 2009 but have done very few miles since.

The car has done about 130,000 miles. I have lots of documentation including most bills, MOT's etc...Current MOT is valid until December 2012.

The car has a few issues at present including:

Rheostat for heater matrix failed (I think this is termed "resistor pack" looking through various forum posts on this subject). Currently I have a temporary switch wired in to allow the blowers to be switched off.

There is some steering vibration between 70 - 80 mph.

The aircon condenser was removed by the previous owner, the sun roof is working well though.

There is a dent just above the rear bumper and the tow bar. Overall I would describe the car as in need of a little TLC but great fun to drive and I am sure I will miss it once sold.

I am looking for offers in the region of £3000.

Some pictures below, if you want any more details/pictures please let me know.

    Angus Watson.

It has been in Derby (Oakwood) between 2002 and 2011, now hiding in Sandiacre. I agree, a sale in Europe has probably got better potential.

                a big snowy one

I've run it past the missus and received a one brow salute in response (I take that as a maybe but certainly not a no). we're just about to sign mortage papers so I think she has other things on her mind. Plus I'd end up adding 1.5 to 2 grand of taxes if I import it to Finland, making it potentially quite expensive for a 3B. Let's be honest.. the expensive bit would be all the modifying after I got my hands on it But let's see what happens after Angus sends me a few more pics.

Lol, explain its an investment, and see if she believes that after the last one!

Congrats on the house, did you manage to wangle a garage or space for one in the future?

Are what are S2 prices like over there? That sucks about the import tax.

haha. well for starters this one doesn't have the back end mashed in and require a full reshell so that's a bonus!
New house has a big double garage although it needs doors on it. I'll email you more shortly. leaving for Cannes in the morning and back Thursday night.
S2 prices, like any cars, are mental here. 6 grand for a high mileage 3b. or roughly 30% of the finnish value if I import one.

So even with the import tax you'd be making a reasonable investment. If you get clearance and decide to go for it then I'd get the body sorted then leave it fairly standard. It's resale value will be better the more original it is, still you know that already, just pointing out the bleeding obvious.

hey Kit, you're absolutely right mate. I think the only thing i'd change is the wheels. and remap. maybe
I have to think of purchase price + transport + my time + body repair (at finish prices) + resistor pack + bushes/arms etc. if it's worth doing as a play thing and investment then i'd be happy enough. Not if it works out as the same price as buying a similar Finnish dealer serviced car though. let's see what happens

Thanks for everyone who has expressed an interest in my S2 and the advice offered. After some consideration I think my original asking price of £3000 was a bit optimistic. I am now looking for offers in the region of £2000.
