    80 Saloon B4 quattro (AAN S2 conversion)

    Hi Folks,
I haven't been on here for ages (sorry), feeling a bit guilty as my first post for a long time is in the cars for sale section.

As I can't re-register this car to Swedish plates due to all the red tape involved it is with alot of sadness and a heavy heart that I have to sell.

Loads of spec and work done. You can read all about it in the project thread here: http://nogsport.co.uk/ftopict-546.ht...er=asc&start=0
Plus loads of pictures within the project thread and in the gallery: http://www.nogsport.co.uk/modules.ph...view_album.php

RS2 power. Was rolling road tested @ 313bhp but have since fitted a better intercooler (Forge) so expect a bit more.

Too much to list here, just to cover the basics:
4 brand new summer tyres on original Avus refurbed alloy wheels.
    MTM hybrid turbo, MTM remap
    Forge DV and Forge FMIC
    034 Motorsport coil pack conversion
    Wagner Tuning EM
3" turbo back stainless rust free exhaust with two sound dampers and a brand new cat.
Green stuff brake pads mated to S2 front calipers
    GT alarm and immob.
    S2 dash and center gauges
    3 spoke leather steering wheel
Poly powerflex bushes front & rear
New brake hoses all round, 4x discs, two new calipers.
Oil and filter change every 6 months regardless of mileage.
I have ploughed endless £££'s into this, stacks of paperwork.

I also have brand new original front and rear S2 bumpers (primed) from Audi (still in their packaging) which are included in the sale price along with loads of spares including a set of UK headlights.

    Price £6000

Buyer collects or I can arrange to have it put on the frieght ferry at buyers cost (approx £150-£200 will find out for certain).

    Any questions please ask.
I'm certain I've missed loads out, will add more infomation as ncessary.
Contact via here, PM or email.
    Phone 0046 304 673082 (home), 0046 708 390622 (mobile).
    Thanks
    Mark

Its on UK plates and a UK V5.
The V5 has been changed to reflect the new engine number and cc.
Currently on a UK MOT which was issued AFTER the conversion.

The wheels shown in the above picture are not for sale with the car, these are my studded winter wheels.
Car will be fitted with 16" Avus wheels with brand new summer tyres.

I'm off on holiday at the end of next week.
I'll give it one more go to get it re-registered over here (need to fit a new lambda which I have, original Bosch), air filter - which is in the post.

Also fitted a new thermostat last Sunday. The new cat. was only fitted yesterday.

    Possible p/x
What have you got (no motorbikes as I lost my 'A' licence)?

    Mark,

If it is “only” red tape and not much more money, stick it out and see it through, especially seeing that you’ve spent so much time and effort on the car.

Easy for me to say i know, but perseverance and tenacity will help you win out. I’m assuming you have no real deadline hanging over you regarding the car or daily transport.

    Good luck either way.

Not far off...Wikipedia has it as 'excessive bureaucratic regulation'.

Without boring you all to tears

What I was told by the Transportstyrelsen (Swedish DVLA) before I did the conversion and what the Svensk Bilprovning (Swedish MOT organisation) are saying now are two very different things. They're not run by the same people even though they are Government organisations (idiots the lot of them).
They're not budging - no give and take, everything by the rule book, no wonder Saab went under

I'm trying to get in writing, clarification from the very first person I spoke to when I was about to start the project.
I wanted to know what I could and couldn't do before I went ahead and did it.
I followed the guidelines given to me by the Swedish DVLA....

We have similar problem in Latvia for B2 chassis cars with turbo conversions, especially 20 vt, to get them road legal. The thing here is that Latvian authorities claim that B2 chassis are to weak to handle the potential turbo power. The enthusiasts here have found a possibility, that if you can prove that you have built your engine based on the old (original) shortblock then it is usually is enogh and you get it approved.

In this case I am not familiar with the requirements in Sweden on this issue, but probaly if you can prove to them that your car is built based on NG engine then you might be fine.

On the other hand.. there are factory built S2 sedans with 230 hp in B4 chassis so it should be enough argument to get it approved.

Hope this could be of any help to you or others here on forum

The thing is, every time I have gone back for a re-try (clutching loads more paperwork and fingers crossed) it costs about £120-£160 a pop. Its no longer a joke. Last time they wanted to weigh the car again (more £££'s). It can't change weight since the last time it went. WTF do they think I'm doing, welding on extra metal in the mean time or chopping off bits to save weight and bring the price of the car tax down. Then they wanted (at my expense) a full Audi engineers report (that will cost...).
                  Sorry, rant over.

IF I had a UK address, it wouldn't be a problem. Can get UK insurance on this. Then once a year driving holiday back to the UK, see family and mates and at the same time re-new the MOT. Lot less hassle then trying to do it the 'legal' way

Have you got the engine swap approved in UK? If not maybe you can get it there and then registering in swe would go easier...

or, find a good frien in UK you really trust, register the car on his/her name and then ask your friend issue a notary approved document that he is fully authorising you to use this car.

Yep, engine swap was approved in the UK. DVLA were happy with it and the garage report I give them. Issed a new V5 without any problems

Thats a good idea. How would the named driver insurance work? Would I need a UK driving licence?

There are three insurance companies listed as forum suporters and sponsors, it might be worth a shot to ask them

More information and pictures including a price drop

                          5 stud hub conversion.
These are the summer wheels (all 4 have been refurbed), complete with center caps.
Brand new tyres on them (not shown in the picture)

                          Bad points:
Interior really needs a deep clean (I haven't touched it so far)
                          Few rust spots
One very small dent on the bonnet
Door bottom trim/rubber is peeling away (I was going to take all these off anyway)

More pictures including the bad bits.

Also fitted with electric front windows, electric door mirrors and full electric tilt and slide sunroof that works and doesn't leak

                          Bad bits
Drivers where the door meets the wing

Rear drivers side door/rear wing. I was going to take all these door trims off. Again the idea was to respray the whole car and sort out the few rust spots and dents.

Since I've owned the car I haven't touched the interior, just needs a real good clean.

                          New price

                            Hi Mark

Just a couple of questions as I just wanted to ask what millage is now on the engine and would it be possible to use every day?

                            Kind regards

                              Hi Matt,
Sorry for not getting back to you sooner as I've been on holiday and only got back late on Sunday.
I removed the engine from the S6 when it stood at 173436
The S2 clocks I fitted read 167325 before the car was driven, difference of -6111.

Mileage now on the S2 clocks reads 171637 (engine mileage 177748)

I was using this near enough everyday except now I only have import insurance so I only use it to go to work and back maybe only once or twice a week (just to keep everything moving).
It is a car you can use everyday
I did the cambelt, waterpump, tensioner, crank bolt sprocket etc in November 2008 when the mile was about 165000

I have a folder full of receipts for parts/service dating back to when the engine was in the S6 including the first MOT certificate. I'm quite lucky that I work for a Audi dealership (parts) so I'm able to get parts at cost price direct from Audi Germany and have use of their workshops on a 'hobby' evening every second Tuesday
