I purchased the car in 2005, it was in good condition, completely original 8v golf with around 62,000 miles and i used it as a daily and since the repaint i’ve kept it dry stored over the winter only used over the summer during dry days.
A huge amount of time and effort has gone into this vehicle over the years and is an exceptional example of a mk2. The vehicle underwent a full professional respray in 2008 which was done by my brother who has over 15 years experience as a paint sprayer, all work was completed at a professional reputable bodyshop based in Birmingham city centre.
This is the 2nd or 3rd year running i've not made full use of the car and it’s a real shame it’s not being driven so I would like to see it go to a good home.
The vehicle is currently in dry storage away from home, it usually lives in my garage, but due to building work at home it has had to be stored off site (i don't like to leave it outdoors). In the next coming weeks it may have to live on my driveway or my brothers in order to make things more convenient for viewing etc.
Since owning the car the following has been completed
Brand New BBS RM G60 alloy wheels - still in mint condition, i never ran these in the winter and tyres have only covered a few 1000 miles
Lowered on Jamex shocks and springs
Full professional repaint in Tornado red
During the repaint the following was completed / replaced
Genuine front and rear G60 arches
Genuine front and rear bumpers
Door mirrors color coded
Genuine door mouldings
Genuine front panel
Genuine red stripe grill
New grill badge and rear badge
All the normal textured plastic i.e bumper tops, door mouldings, rear spoiler, G60 arches & front splitter have been de-textured and painted gloss black
Brand new genuine exhaust backbox
Brand new top tint windscreen - old one cracked from a stone chip
16v rear lights - still have the original orange lights
Brand new genuine headlights - still have the original ones
Brand new inner lights (not fitted but will be supplied, I also have the blue hella stickers)
Brand new fog lights
Front wipers, rear wiper, rear spoiler and door handles painted gloss black
Other points i can think to mention
Engine is completely standard
Interior is in great condition, no rips, tears or wear - only picky things I can say is there’s a slight burn on the driver seat (from previous and not very noticeable) and the driver side door card has a slight sag from where you lean your arm
Original VW mats in new condition, i’ve always kept another set ontop of the vw ones to keep them looking fresh
All the glass (except for windscreen) original headlights, inner grill lights all have the original vehicle registration etched
The front and rear metal arches have NOT been cut back / rolled or modified in any way in order to accommodate wider wheels. As it sits at the moment the rear wheels have good clearance and DO NOT rub even with passengers in the rear
Rear parcel shelf has not been cut or modified
A set of BBS RA’s will be included in the sale, these were used as my winter wheels when i used the car as a daily, i then fitted them to my Audi 80. The alloys are in average condition and tyres are on the limits
I have both the original keys and x2 fobs for the immobiliser.
Original service book and a huge folder of all old paperwork - mots etc all to confirm mileage and service history. I have every MOT from 1994 when the car had covered only 15621 miles.
I've always had the car serviced with genuine parts, servicing this vehicle is relatively straightforward and i made best use of my brothers workplace to get things done. I’ve kept receipts of all service items that i’ve used over the years.
The vehicle doesn't come with the personalised registration, the original registration J65 LLL will be put back onto the vehicle when sold.
Finally i'd like to add that this is an immaculate car, the paint work is immaculate - imperfection, ripple and dent free. It's never mechanically let me down in all the time i’ve owned it and i always get comments on how nice it is. Since the repaint i’ve never driven it in the rain and its been serviced every year regardless of how little i’ve driven it, in the last 2 years i only drove it approx 3000 miles. I’ve never let the fuel needle run into the red and i’ve always used Shell Optimax petrol.
If you are genuinely interested i'd love for you to come look take a look at the car in the flesh to appreciate it in its entirety.
As the car is in storage for over 6 months it doesn't have MOT or Tax, i’ll put the car through an MOT over the coming weeks.
