    Audi Coupe 2.6E for sale

Audi Coupe 2.6E, 140 000 miles, 5 Speed Manual, 5 months MOT, 4 months Tax.

I've owned and enjoyed this car for 7 years but it's recently started to make noise from it's gearbox or differential and, not having the tools or time to fix it, means it needs to go (that plus my wife saying it was too big/difficult to park so replaced by a lousy Golf)

    Here's the good stuff:
Full leather and wood interior in excellent condition (with nice 3 spoke steering wheel rather than the ugly later one)
Fantastic sound system installed by a previous owner (Pioneer DEH9000 head unit, Alpine V12 amp, Kenwood custom fit speakers and Pioneer subwoofer)
    New exhaust fitted 2008
Tyres, battery etc. are all good
I've kept the car in good mechanical condition (e.g. oil changes, K&N air filter)
Has been very reliable - no breakdowns and has been around Europe twice (5000 miles each time) with no issues
HPI clear (with certificate) and no accidents I know of
All old MOT's and history included

    And the not so good:
A noise which increases with speed from either the gearbox or differential (maybe bearings?) - the gerarbox still changes well
Tapping noise from the engine when started from cold (hasn't got better or worse in 7 years)
Occasional groaning from the power steering (sometimes fine – again has been the same since I bought it)
The rear windscreen washer has never worked (although the wiper works OK)
Front wipers sometimes don't automatically return to the bottom position
The lights at the rear nearside (passenger side) have a bad connection but the RHS was recently replaced from a new part from Audi

I'd really like to see it go to somone from this forum who knows these cars and is clued up technically

I'm in South London near Camberwell/Herne Hill and am only looking for £250 ovno.

PS I can't break the car as I live in a flat with no space so it needs to be driven away whole please

      Hi Ross,

I'd been running the car for about a year as the noise got steadily worse so I'm sure it would make it up to sunny Cumbria. I just wish I could fix it because it's a big solid lump of a car - far better than the Golf which I got to replace it...

Thanks for looking anyway, just give me a ring if you fancy it

For about a year? Id read " it's recently started to make noise from it's gearbox or differential" Im interested in the overall condition of the shell, rust, dents, scrapes?

          Hi Ross,
Well, the noise probably started about a year ago but it was so quiet that my local garage didn't know what it was, so I ran it for about a year until it recently starting becoming "noisy" i.e. it got annyoing on trips. Prior to that it wasn't really a problem (and as I mentioned, the gearbox still changes well and is as tight as the change on my 40000 mile Golf). I normally only only use the car to go to the shops and back and last year I think I clocked about 600 miles or so (can prove this with the MOT's), hence it took so long to really get noticeable.

As for the bodywork, there's no rust and it's very straight although there is a small dent (5cm or so) drivers side rear wheelarch which has been painted over with the Audi touch up paint (was like that when I bought it) and it does have a 2-3 patches where the laquer is coming off but for 19 year old car it actually scrubs up very well (it wasn't washed in the pictures but it been raining earlier).

I'll see if I can put some pics up later today of the dent and lacquer sections.

It has it's faults but I want to be totally honest about it so feel free to give me a ring and I'll give you as much info as I can.
I'll also throw in the Haynes manual, and remember, the road tax is worth about £80 alone

          Thanks
          Stuart

              Hi All,

just sold the car tonight - a guy drove 2 hours to come see it and took it away for the asking price.
Thanks for your interest though.... hope to be back when I get my S2
