    98 V6 Cabriolet, 54K miles, Excellent History

It is with regret that I have for sale my Audi cabriolet, the condition is excellent and not just for a 12year old car. I looked at many examples during my search and a lot cheaper cars than this but they were all bad cars, this was definitely the best example and I would say still is.

The condition is excellent and the history backs it all up, the previous owner and I have dry stored the car and it has only come out when it is dry and there is no salt on the ground. It is rolled around the garage to stop flat spots and the tyre pressures adjusted also.

Car registered in May 1998 by Heron Newark Audi and used as a demonstrator during this time. 2nd owner was registered in August 1998 which he kept until August 2008 and the third owner had it until I purchased in September 2010 and have continued to look after it since.

    Service History Detail
May 98 PDI Del Miles Heron Audi
May 99 Service 6273 Lincoln Audi
May 00 Service + Additional 9942 Lincoln Audi
May 01 Service 13428 Lincoln Audi
May 02 Service + Additional 17716 Lincoln Audi
May 03 Service + Additional 22539 Lincoln Audi
May 04 Service + Additional 26693 Lincoln Audi
May 05 Service 31532 Independent Dealer
Apr 06 Service + Additional 37584 Independent Dealer
Jun 08 Service + Additional 47239 Quattro Specialist
Aug 11 Service + Additional 53730 LC Charles SEAT

The 3rd owner was a mechanic so self maintained during this period ie oil and filter changes and covered around 6000 in the two years of ownership. I purchased it at mileage 53716 and is now only 54395. I have every MOT and the complete handbook and manuals including the radio code which documents the service also. Since my ownership it has been MOT’d and cared for by Midland VW.

During my ownership it has had fitted new cambelt, tensioner and water pump changed along with respective fluid, new discs and pads all around, new rear wheel bearings due to the new brakes, refurbished the alloys and fitted new tyres all round. No advisories on last MOT but needed a CV boot to pass which again was carried out at Midland VW.

The MOT is valid until April 10th 2013 and is taxed until Sep 2013.

As you can see by the picture all MOTs and all three keys plus security tag are all here

    General specification

2.6 V6 manual 5 speed, Cactus green metallic paint with matching green cloth roof, the rear window isn’t glass clear but as you can see in the pictures it isn’t cloudy and has no rips or repairs. It is a manual roof which again I purposely wanted to save any headaches with leaking reservoirs etc and is easily put up and down.

Front sports seats with ½ Ecru leather upholstery, some cracking to the side bolsters but no rips or damage throughout the entire interior. Ellipsoid headlamps

Delta stereo system with optional centre bass unit in arm rest area, fully working power aerial.

Four electric windows, electric mirrors, central locking, abs, leather steering wheel with airbag, tinted glass, power steering, original mats, full tool kit, spare never used, optional wind deflector. This car was over £26000 when new and is a true original solid audi.

    Bad Points.
Few stone chips evident and there is a 5pence size dent on the passenger side rear wheel arch in line with the side rub guards, no chip or paint removed from this though and isn’t obvious. Lower corners of screen slight delamination but no issues and fine for MOT, this was consistent to all cars I looked at. Slight scratch to drivers wing mirror side edge but very small.

    £4000

Looks a beauty. How come it has 5 stud hubs? I thought the standard was 4 stud?

Colsey you are indeed correct, I sourced the S2 front hubs and as the brakes needed a refresh thought it best to go five stud as opens up options for alloy wheels.

Absolutely gorgeous, what hubs did you use on the rears?

Early A4 rear discs from a breakers is what I used on my Cabrio to go to five stud.

Just swop out the rear discs and you're done, very easy and rewarding job.

As it is a V6, the driveshafts marry up to S2 hubs, the four cylinder cars, one has to change the driveshaft CV or the drive shaft to a V6 or S2 driveshaft and the maybe the gearbox flanges, as far as I can recall, but best to check out the Sooty thread for the front hub conversion details, if one has a four cylinder.

Sorry for the slight thread hijack, but five stud hubs is a very worthwhile alteration for the "For Sale" Cabrio, the A8 Sport wheels look great.

            Back to topic.

As Mac said, brakes needed a refresh so seemed best opportunity to go 5 stud with some nice wheels.

S2 hubs and then new A4 discs and pads with bearings as well. In fact the brakes probably aren't bedded in as it doesn't come out! Any pics please ask, can do FaceTime if want to look at specic areas.

                  Not surprised, even in January.

Is the new owner a forum member ?

No he isn't but he may drop in for info if problems arise!

Must say as it drove off I thought it was wrong thing as it looked so good but there you go.

Was it sold to someone from Scotland? There's an identical one recently appeared near me. Didn't clock the wheels though..
