For sale the car that started my obsession some 13 years ago.
My MK2 golf GTI 5 door in Alpine white. Over the years I have replaced or refurbed every single part of this car. She is running a 2 litre 2E block with re worked head and a miltek exhaust system putting out 130 bhp which in a leightweight nimble chassis is great fun.
The engine was built by my own fair hand and all components re furbed or replaced, the block was repainted and the ancillery parts replaced of refinished.
The rocker and a few of the other parts were changed for chrome plated items.
The brakes and suspension were all replaced and she was dropped 40mm on sachs shocks and quality lowering springs. The brakes are all new calipers lines and uprated discs and pads. The master cylinder is the 16v 22mm item. I used high perfomance fluid. The lower arms steering rack was all replaced at the same time. I have poly bushed some of the car as i dont want it too stiff.
the wheels are brand new genuine G60's shod in sticky Yokos.
The gear box was re-built and a new sachs clutch fitted with new cable and mounts replaced while i was there. the front engine mount is a g60 solid rubber item jkeeping engine shift to a minumum without transfering vibrations.
It is also a PAS model which is a must on a mk2.
The paintwork is immaculate with the exception of one stone chip on the bonnet which is being done prior to sale, a toucn in would do but i want it done properly. all the badges were replaced years ago with genuine ones.
The interior is the tartan one, it really is spotless i had the side bolsters done in black leather to replace the slighly worn drivers bolster. the base squab was replaced at the time.
The dashboard, door cards roof lining everything is as new. She also has expensive just matz thick over mats. I have fitted a tasteful sony stereo and uprated the original speaker with direct replacement ones. I am not into massive sound and prefer a car original or OE+. MFA all works which is a rarerity.
The underside of the car is clean enough to eat your dinner off. She has never been welded and when I got her I had the whole car stripped of all parts including glass and repainted by a good friend who does all my paint. That was 10 years ago and she still looks great. The car still has the original VW wings. EG they fit...All the interior cavities were injected with dinitrol clear waxoyl to replace the original stuff.
I do not use the car in bad weather at all. she lives in a heated garage and kept well.
The car has never wanted for anything and I have lavished it with love and attention sometimes more than the wife....
However my family is growing and I need to cut the car collection down. It breaks my heart but i think i have got used to the idea of selling her. I also dont find time to use her even on dry days, its a waste.
I know there are not many cars like this left, the only job that needs doing is changing the flexi brake lines. Not because they need it but because i bought goodridge ones and never got round to changing them.
I am asking £3500 for her which is a vey fair price for what this car is. I may move slightly on price if she goes to the right home subject to vetting etc etc
.
For some reason I cannot post any pictures on the forum of late. If someone can help I will email some pictures to wet the appetite.
If I have serous interest I will photo every angle of the car including the under side.
