    Not mine but i'm tempted

    http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C401097

I really shouldn't but it looks in good nick and has had some recent work done. Pretty low mileage from these bullet proof engines as well.

It is a grand too much for me really for what would be an expensive fad but I always wanted one. In black as well, hmmm. Should spend the money on more power but I need a new daily soon and I am trying to talk myself out of the boring A4 TDI Quattro.

That is nice, I can see why you are tempted,

Bit heavy on price for me, but if it is as good as it looks why not?!

Would rather pay the extra £800 for the black one which is in far better condition. Not driven in 18months doesn't appeal to me and the red one will turn pink once the polish has worn off BTDT. Starting to think £3k (including a good condition UR Steering wheel and in Black is a pretty good price considering these are rare as rocking horse sh*t.

I also don't want a SWB Quattro Sport. If I did, I understand I would need around £150k for a proper one.

These should not be chopped up in my opinion. They are rare enough and useable enough to exist in their own right.

That said, if someone beats me to it, it will save me the money and will push me in the direction of a more modern hack (which is what I know I should be doing) Fun isn't cheap though right?

I think you are right. I don't foresee another one coming up in this condition for a long time. It is probably the best I have seen in the last 5 yrs for reasonableish money. It is only 40miles up the road as well. Arghghgh, it seems like it is written in the stars that I am destined to have this car.

Will you not be bored with this one being a weekend car ?

Or do you want it 100% original and keep it as show room?

Come on,buy it or someone will grab the bargain instead of you

My RS2 Spec S2 is my weekend car. I need a car for a daily driver to replace my ailing diesel. I am probably going to be moving more into the countryside, so will have a 10mile drive to work on some nasty roads. In the winter, 4WD would be a blessing. Obviously a sensible person would buy an A4 TDI Quattro or something similar but I am not sensible all the time. The CQ would tick quite a few boxes and the fuel economy would be just about bearable and the 5 pots make a lovely noise despite the lack of power.

Go for it, they are a lovely drive, although not as fast as the turbo, they are still fun and more than adequate for daily driving.

I drove one many years ago when I had my UR (a mate had the standard Quattro) and it was just as good really, just under rated and over looked because of the arches and no turbo.

Less to worry about and it has probably been driven sensibly most of the time.

Much more interesting than a modern Audi and proper 4WD too!
