2001 Ford Ka Collection - long MOT & Tax

Just putting this up on here as I may be replacing it with something with a little more poke. Audi not included

    • 2001
    • Silver
    • 90k miles
    • Tax Jun 2014
    • MOT Jun 2014I am the 3rd owner and it has a history folder from the receipt of sale onward, including all MOTs and some tax renewal reminders
    • Car was bought off some neighbours / friends who owned it from 2006, after inheriting it from a grandparent, who had bought it new.
Here's an warts and all assessment:-

Body has very little surface rust and no rot that I or the MOTer has found, including the filler cap. A few scatches, dents and scuffs here and there and the bonnet is a bit flat but it's presentable and you don't care about leaving it in tight car parks or busy streets.

Interior is clean and tidy in black & grey, only downside is the steering wheel material has melted a little, as cars of this age and type seem to do but it is still solid. Boot lock has frozen and would cost <£30 for a new one but as it's got a release button on the dash, I haven't bothered. Comes with 2 keys, 1 is quite worn but still starts the car, the other is perfic.

FSH until I got it, then a DIY service by me - oil & coolant, still got sparks and brake fluid to do. Sump had gone a little porous but I have used chemical metal to repair this and it does not leak.

Brakes all work well and it has the vented front discs (!) with lots of pad left. Handbrake can be used to do hill starts, hold the car steady when parking or impress girls.

Had a new battery before I got it, starts eagerly on the first cough and runs well. One could almost call it nippy On the odd occasion, the idle can be a smidge lumpy, but I have yet to replace the spark plugs and set the valve clearances and it's usually when under electrical load. This is very rare though and just me being picky. I replaced the coolant, cleaned the thermostat pipe and fitted a new hose clip.

Suspension has a few creaks but some lubricant on the wishbone balljoints is in the process of sorting this. The car tracks true under power and braking and the steering is very nice - Audi could have learned a lot from this little shopping car! It's a hoot to drive and if it had more poke, I'd be keeping it.

Car has some rare 14" Fiesta Motorsport alloys on it in grey with 4x 6mm+ tread tyres - fronts are Michelin Energy, rears Firestone TZ300, both in 185/55R14, so it's a true go-kart. These cost me £250 to put together and apint I have the correct alloy bolts and some Ford locking nuts on there. The alloys are freshly painted to an acceptable standard and have some dents to the outer lip but are true and balanced. You'd stuggle to notice this unless I pointed it out but I like to be honest... There was a bit of rubbing on full lock, which I cured with some 5mm spacers but it's perfect now. Car comes with a full set of 13" steels included with legal tyres, 2 with 6mm tread that are nearly new, 2 with 4mm that are a few years old but still fine and a 14" steel spare, spare 185/55R14 tyre with 6mm+ tread as well as full set of steel wheel nuts!

Overall, a car that runs and drives well and would be ideal as a runaround (what I've been using it for) or as a first car, as it's super cheap insurance but still looks good on the alloys

Car is located in Bristol and is in daily use. It will be for sale if I get another car but please lodge your interest

    £795 ono

Done the valve clearances and spark plugs today, so it runs like a dream. Also put some new PAS fluid in it.

    Here's some more pictures:-
