My old mans A6 2.5tdi 2001

Hi all,

My dad has decided to part with hi much loved A6 2.5tdi Avant. Here's a link to it on auto trader, but I thought it may be of interest here.

You may ask about the engine rebuild; well, it had noisy cams / top end, so, he took the liberty of having the engine pulled and rebuilt, this is all documented and included a recon turbo and all belts & fluids along with new transmission fluid. It really run very well indeed, I'd have it except I live in Portsmouth now and there isn't much room to swing a cat, never mind an A6 avant!

Hi,

Yeah, it's a fantastic car! Of course, I have a vested interest but it really is in great condition, being honest, the only thing I'd do to it would be to repair the DIS and put lots of miles on it going from Portsmouth to Sheffield with some frequency.

The car is located near Sheffield, not far from J31 off of the M1.

If parking wasn't such a PITA where I am, I'd have this in a heartbeat, more MPG than my Golf Gti and twice the room.

That's a nice looking car with decent spec, but it's also a lot of money for a 12 year old car.

Is that the going rate for these cars?

I agree with the above. It is a lovely condition car with some good recent work but it is a 12yr old Auto diesel that is not particularly frugal on fuel. The audience you are selling to is very small. It is painful selling good quality cars like this when the audience is so small. Good luck with the sale.

I totally hear you with the 12y/o car thing, any thoughts on what he should be pitching it at? I said its worth about £3k despite all the 'investment' as of late (money down the pan, but that's car ownership huh)

I'd rather someone be honest and say "are you having a laugh, too much" than it to sit advertised for ages.

It's a difficult one. As usual, it is worth what someone is prepared to pay for it.

Check this one out. I think that is more like the sort of ballpark that would see it sell quicker. That said, there are a few up for sale around the £3k and more mark. They have not been rebuilt before though. It is a bit like selling an S2. It will sell for top dollar eventually if you are prepared to wait for a long time but a quick sale will end up feeling like you have been robbed.
