Very reluctantly I am putting up my newly acquired 2.8 V6 Quattro Coupe up for sale. A number of factors mean I now have to sell, and I'm pretty gutted as this was going to be my personal winter car. Recently (start of this week) ended a long term relationship which means I no longer can afford luxuries like this to play with, as well as the garage telling me the exhaust will need more work than I was expecting (and had budgeted for)
A car with lots of potential and these will only go up in value over the next few years, especially if in good conidtion!
The good;
It’s a 2.8 v6 Quattro, working 4x4 which does run and drive. No funny engine noies, starts on the button.
It has 11 months MOT on it, so it’s a road legal car (I can deliver at buyers expense please ask)
5 months tax, which actually cost me double removing the lovely DVLA clamp after the previous owner lied and didnt send me the tax (or indeed tax it all!)
Lots of history, including service information and money spent (lots of new parts in the last few year including a new fuel pump)
Good working gearbox, again no noises or crunching. 4x4 and transfer box seems fine.
Quattro cloth interior in relatively ok (albeit dirty) condition. Minor cigarette burn to drivers seat.
Majority of electrics work, although fan motor appears to be duff. Checked the fuse and its ok, and the lights dim when you turn the knob.
Has the VDO gauges (working) and walnut trim all intact as well as a decent 3 spoke wheel.
Has quite a lot of history in a big folder with partial history to around 100k only 127k on the engine.
Cambelt was changed not long ago (2011 but car has only covered a couple of thousand miles) and still looks very new.
I’ve just changed all plugs and leads, oil and air filter. This cost me near £100.
Both lower front suspension arms and ball joints have been replaced and are in as new condition, car drives well.
Non sunroof model.
4 good original alloys with decent tread tyres on that all run straight. Spare in the boot but I havent checked condition.
Front windscreen looks quite new.
Paintwork is still a nice bright red and has not faded or peeled as far as I can see, some work required but its still a good looking car.
The Bad;
Due to the exhaust being holed the car isn't revving properly over 3000rpm due to incorrect back pressure. My local garage who I trust have advised that the car needs welding to the front sections of exhaust but the cat back system is ok. The car drives but the exhaust is loud and rattly (loose baffles in centre box) so bear this in mind when collecting.
Theres a typical audi leak somewhere when it rains heavily and the passenger footwell wet.
Drivers door has dropped, although I can include a good condition set of hinges for an extra £20. Door still shuts and locks.
The ugly;
The last owner originally had the front ball joints replaced and the passenger side one broke whilst going round a corner which subsequently bent the front wheel under and damaged the wing/front corner of the sill. I have a good replacement wing which I can include (for £50) and then it just needs spraying and the sill welding. The car was off the road for 2 years whilst he argued with the garage over who paid for the repairs.
There are various marks around the body which would need attention to make it perfect. Crack in the front bumper on the top drivers side.
That’s what I know of and I'm being totally honest unlike the previous owner. You can tell this car has been loved at some point in the past from the history I have. But it will need some money spending to make it a good example.
I've already sunk over £1100 into this car which I'm know not going to get back, but it does have a lot of potential and is importantly road legal!
I'm already in a rather large hole with this car as I was ripped off by a dishonest seller so a quick sale would be a bonus as I need to recoup my losses and have a half decent car for winter.
