I think the term Barn Find came from the super rich with too much property and assets, but not much memory. The same term does seem to add cash to sale adds. I doubt it'll go for 3/4s that figure. I tried to get 5k for one this year with no interest at all. Mine had no damage, no cat D, full service, unmarked interior, all new front rs2 lights, new rs2 front bumper, rs2 rear bumper, full reverse Wagner inlet manifold, 2 new Audi wings, 3 sets of wheels, full miltec, sport quattro manifold, new rs2 turbo, rs2 maf, mtm 4 bar ECU, new oil lines, head porting, coolant lines, large Wagner air cooler, oil cooler, pipes, hoses, all sensors and electrics extended, rs2 roll bars, qrs brakes, all original paint but for wings, all belts new and pumps repositioned, n reg aby coup, needs all bolting up, fluids and a fresh MOT.... A total of approx 4.5 k of new parts never used.... Still no interest..... The moral of this is story is, it's the genuine article and un touched ones that get people excited for good cash. I also agree the good ones are easily worth 7-8. I should never have started modifying and kept it real ( time, money, etc ) although mine is still gathering dust, it's not in a barn and is available.

What a shame mate but Well said.Your spot on about ruining good cars and there potential value long term. There have been a couple of really good originals (S2 coupe)and they both fetched no more than £4,5-£5 on here just a few months ago.It seams a heavily modified one will fetch the same money £4-4.5 because the modded/RS2 parts are worth even more than that figure a lot when sold separately. When i bought that new S2 alloy of you your car looked a really good one much much better than most so i can vouch for what your saying.Whoever gets it will be doing well. So is this now up for sale and you have really decided to throw in the towel?

Not sure to tell the truth. Doing too much with stockcar racing, work, family, golf, fishing, training.... Love reading the forum during down time each day. If someone waved a magic wand and said have the next few weekends devoted to your project I would love every minute. I'm probably waiting for a wanted add to fit the description. I can see a hole in my wallet forming for the next stockcar engine build. But there's always something around the corner that keeps life interesting..... All the best maybe see you at Audi in park

I hope you do find a magic wand and get to finish it. Ultimately it's up to you but good luck either way. I doubt i will be making Audis in the park but will be at ADI if your coming down that way.

Here's a wake up call for prices.

This should tell all eyes who read this about hairy fairy stories of inflated prices about what cars are worth and not. A 30K mile S6 sold last feb 2013 for ???! Price paid, who knows but it was on pistonheads for £4995 in London around the finchley area. The car is in Ireland and now has 39k on the clock had a bit spent on it to bring it up to scratch and finished yesterday on ebay at £3,600. I doubt another exists as good as that S6 except the one Audi has. Spink had his noggy blue S6 for sale at £3,500 only a few months ago and as far as i could tell no messages of serious interest and don't know if spink still has the car.

Undoubtedly S2 cars are worth more than an S6 at the moment.I think for S2 cars a good price is paid ONLY when the right colour turns up with an IMMACULATE original interior and if it has the desirable RS2 style seats and good histroy with receipts showing expensive recent work. Several S2 coupe have been on sale at high prices and are still gathering dust due to lack of interest a year later
