Wow that looks nice. Surely that's a bargain at 10 grand.

I wish I had the money available for that motor

I enquired about this car too, seems like a decent guy, says the car has hardly been used in 7 years, but the last "keeper" change was in '95, so I think this car has been in his family possesion for a while. He also said if he doesn't sell he can store it easily, I was ging to offer to store it for him up here in sunny Scotland for a small fee, but I knew the answer. Looks immaculate.

If hardly used for 7 years do you think 'problems' would appear with more regular use?
On the face of it,looks clean, and cheap !

Quite likely it needs a few bits doing, or will one it starts getting driven daily - but given the price it would make a good purchase for anyone wanting one! Needs some bigger brakes, samco's and remap

One thing is for sure - they aren't coming up for sale very often, and prices are creeping up - look at Lloyd's car, over twice the asking price and sold pretty quickly, 'tis a sign as to where these are going price wise...

Anything made of rubber could harden and deteriorate. I'd think you would be looking at boost hoses, vacuum hoses, and then the usual boost leak check - injector inserts and jubilee clips etc may well want replacing... full oil service if not done recently. Sensors, stat etc, although it does say recent cambelt change so would expect that all to be OK. Brake disc/pad to be checked as well in case of corrosion.

He is a dealer and,of course, is entitled to make a profit.

I spoke to the guy at the £12k asking price, and virtually struck a deal taking a TT and B6 tdi, plus cash for it.

I can't/won't put the car down, as i did not see it. I recall him telling me it needed a few bits doing, brakes/brake hoses etc...

Ross, if like you say, you factor in your thoughts, plus brakes etc, etc, you could be looking at a reasonable sum to sort. Maybe thats why its reduced?

I eventually decided against it as only doing silly low miles in 5 years put me off against potential spend.... still no doubt a good car.

It would be very interesting to know what recent cars sold for in relation to asking price.

I'm quite comfortable doing alot of work myself so that skews my opinion of the cost of running... also I had a C5 RS6 for 2 years which is expensive in another league to the RS2! Finding a specialist that knows the car and will work on it can be quite a task if you're not near one of the 'known' specialists.

When i bought mine there were a few similar RS2's actually selling around the 9/10k mark, around a grand less than advertised. Asking prices now are 3-5k higher and there are less for sale, so it all comes to demand really. It's been reduced so he must have struggled, but others seem to have gone for alot more, at least asking, as you say it would be interesting to know what they've gone for.

As for prices - small brakes so discs and pads can be done on the drive for about £500, it may need some cv boots, ball joints and bushes changing too which could add up. He may be better off sorting these things and get a higher price for not much investment.

In my experience it can be a falsehood in buying a 'sorted' example of an older car, my preference is to price it into the sale and do it myself! Better to get 2k off and do all this stuff now than pay that extra for a 'nothing wanting' car that actually will need it all doing again in 2-3 years.

Tried to view the car today but the seller said someone has put a deposit down on it!!
He said if its still for sale in a few weeks to get back in contact.

I have never seen that one about here at all. Been watching it on Ebay for a while though.

I did hear it was in a garage locally having some mechanical work done not too long ago (cant remember what) and sure someone on classic audi said they'd been for a butchers but the body work was pants with evidence of previous repairs.

There's a polar silver RS2 a bit further south west near Plymouth that's been advertised for at least a year. Nice spec but may be not the most desirable colour IMO.

Is it also a case of being in a less accessable part of the country? Has anyone seen it or know it?
