It's a shame this is so far away from me. I'd snap it up. Great looking car.

Speak to me in a few months when I'm leaving for NZ I'm a bit of a pillock really, I put this up for sale then the realisation hit me that the S2 has to go to help pay for emigrating and a two week holiday out there before I go. If I sell this (I'm not ruling it out if I can get the right price for it), then I'll have to see if I can find something else that I can insure at a reasonable cost.

Worcestershire isn't too far from where my parents live, so distance shouldn't be an issue. I'll be down in Herefordshire at the end of the month, after I've had this remapped

Well it was intended to be a stop-gap vehicle for just a few months but as it'll most likely be used until the move a £150 remap now seems justifiable. What's really sad is I'm looking forward to changing the oil, oil filter and spark plugs in a week or so Even if I sell it fairly soon a remap may make it a bit more salable, especially on here where most of us are used to S2 power and torque

South Island ideally but I am open to the North if I get a good job offer there. I'm hoping to go for two weeks in February to Christchurch and will drive down to Wanaka or Queenstown for a few days.

Both wanaka and queenstown are amazing. Give hamner springs ago too.. I prefer cars without the map. Chased loads of faults with cars caused by poor maps.

I sent a couple of inquiries to some local places, one of them uses a standard map from a place in Leeds, the other one told me it's a custom remap. The guy I spoke with seemed very genuine, didn't put 'mate' at the end of every sentence he texted, used full punctuation etc. Not saying the other garage didn't, or that someone's grammar is an indication of how good the remapping is but that fills me with a bit of confidence from the start. A few months in under my ownership should establish whether or not I've ruined the engine

If I've found the right Hanmer Springs on google maps it's the other direction, I'll see if I have time!

If you get chance I recommend it. Also.try the v8 engined power boats on the various rivers. There's one outside wanaka. Awesome fun..

What line of work are you in Jack?

I went out there in Jan '02 and like you sold my S2 to do it (that really hurt). Went with a 2-3 year stay in mind, came back 6.5 years later.

I'm in engineering, on the manufacturing side these days. I'm looking for Production Engineer/Industrial Engineer jobs. Where did you live?

I was based in Auckland as I'm in the marine industry. Auckland is becoming a very expensive place to live now, property prices have gone mental so I expect rents are climbing too. (Gutted we sold our place 4 years ago!!)

Not sure how much of that sort of work you'd find in the South Island, unless you fancy working on ski lifts! (Which has its advantages!)

Yeah I was told that Auckland is the 6th or 7th (don't remember) most expensive city in the world to live! I'm not sure what's out there in engineering yet, but lets see what the job search company comes back with for me

Completely off topic but.... been looking at property and saw this in Hanmer Springs

It looks like the town The Simpsons move to when Homer gets a job with Hank Scorpio

Is that the Plough king one? Hamner is where the glaciers are. Very alpine.. Very nice with thermal pools.

No, it's the one where he's working for an evil genius and they move to this town by a lake and mountains and forest. That's what I'm looking for in NZ, though my employer doesn't necessarily have to be an evil genius type
