I've decided to part ways with my v8 project as i find myself with less and less time/inclination for such things...
The base car is a K reg laser red tdi (aka sooty)
Converted to quattro using a complete v6 avant donor car.
Starts and drives but needs a few things sorting out before it hits the road.
MOT'd until November.
Pretty decent spec with a lot of new parts.
Engine:
ABZ from an audi A8,had a lot of new parts before i bought it (timing belt,gaskets,heads skimmed and refreshed)
034 flywheel/flex plate insert
Sachs sre AAN clutch,new release bearing
Remote oil filter setup and oil cooler
custom engine mounts
Ak motorsport poly engine mounts
034 iic standalone ecu
AEM x series wideband
New 340 lph fuel pump,S2 injectors
Mr2 electric pas pump
Suspension/drive train
Front end:
coupe front subframe,soild mounts,poly wishbone bushes,poly arb bushes,new ball joints,lowered suspension (will come with 2 brand new spare cobra springs)
5 stud conversion,a6 discs and tt calipers.
01e box from the avant,fresh oil,mated to a coolerworx short shifter.
20mm wheel spacers
Rear end:
Full quattro backend from the avant,Ak motorsort solid subframe mounts,full Ak motorsport polybush kit (wishbones and A arms),new cobra springs,still on 4 stud hubs using 5x112 pcd adaptors,these also space the rear wheels out 25mm per side.
Avant diff with poly mounts and fresh oil.
New brake hoses,new pads
Interior:
Golf mk4 seats (make a nice upgrade over standard)
pretty clean interior,slight sagging in the headlining and on the door card fabric.
Has an aftermarket radio and steering wheel (will include the original 3 spoke with spacer)
Battery relocated to the boot.
No glove box,the ecu lives there
Digital Temp gauge
AEM wideband gauge
Oil pressure gauge
Exterior:
It's certainly no show winner but generally solid,has s2 bumpers,debadged boot,blacked out front grille.
It's basically an s2 rep (inluding the 16" Avus wheels)
There's a few dents here and there,a hole where the ariel used to be,bubbling on the driver wing.
The driver wing and rear bumper have the usual paint fade.
I'd reccomend viewing to get a better idea.
It's a great base for a project as most of the hard work has been done,to finish it off it's mainly tidying up wiring,setting up the ecu,diff lock would need fitting,the brakes need looking at,the ABS has been removed so it's currently using the tdi master/servo with an after market proportioning valve on the rear line,pedal feels good however the brakes don't seem to bite very well,i'm not sure if a different m/c or servo will help.
The speedo and tacho need sorting out.
I'll also chuck in a set of proper audi v8 cam/crank locking tools.
I've got a file full of paper work,v5 present.
As sad as i'll be to see it go it's time to move on to other things.
As far as price goes,i'd say £3k ono due to the amount of money in parts that have gone into it.
