Best/What oil for 150k 1Z?

Just wondering what decent quality oil I can put in when I do a mini service over the weekend. Maybe quieten it down a bit?

Manual says VW 505 00 but what grade?

my high milage 1z always got 10w 40, never had an issue with it.

Semi? I was thinking 15w40 but open to suggestions!

Cheap 10w40 diesel and Bosch filter done and it seems to be a bit quieter! The old oil must have been really thin.

Now for that de-cat, what's the easiest way to do it? The pipe is a different size either end of the cat!
