funny one this, just started today, but my dag under load sounds like a cross between and electric toothbrush and a dentist drill. What do you think it could be? turbo? fuel pump? any ideas welcome...

Do you still have boost ? I think you have a broken hose or a hose that jumped out of its place .

sounds like the turbo overspooling because of a boost leak

it seems to drive ok, no judder or anything, but like most on here, it appears to hit a wall at 3K in 4th then 2.5k in 5th, which to me points to the N75 valve thinking its on max boost (or maybe I got that wrong)

I've had a few issues recently with the car because of the split pipe, but i've fixed that now and as far as I know I dont have a leak now.

Might take it down to will at VRS and see if he can put it on his smoke test machine thingie that I have heard about and rule out a leak.

If there is no leak, what else could it be? turbo seems to spool ok though

1z mate, sorry, it's a B4 80 tdi estate :-)

Try to made a log on group 3 and 10 and 11 if the cars is made after 08.1993 and on group 000 if is till that date. Needs to make it in 3-rd gear on full throttle till 4000 rpm and I can understand what's wrong.
You'll need Vag-Com or Vcds.

Got vcds, don't know how to use the more complex commands but will have a go following your info.

Will also be good to see if there is any codes in there, only the airbag was in error last week, thanks
