Tdi oil pressure light

Seems a common problem reading various forums
Mine has been showing over 2000rpm on a hot engine
Is this a sender issue or something more ominous?
Can I fit a VDO gauge from an s2 or coupe gt(as I have from both)?
Do I just use the s2 sender?
I want to mount the gauge in the right hand air vent ala boost gauges rather than centre vent as I may have more chance of noticing it!

So, changed oil n filter and pesky bottom hard to get at with any tool white sender.
Came to do blue one and the tiny thin wire on the spade was on by about one piece of thread.
New spade on-no oil light!
Bloody cars!
