  • AEL inlet manifold removal

How easy is it to remove the inlet manifold on my AEL A6 Avant quattro?
I'd like to get it off to clean all the gunk out of it. Has anyone experience in doing this? Is it a pain to remove or will it come off relativity easily? and same for re fitting?

Also, will I need a New inlet gasket? how much are they and who sells them? cheers.

Only 8 bolts. Probably Allen-head cap screws. Probably 6 mm hex.

AAN Intake Removal R&R (with injector insert replacement)

Not sure how much of this would applie to an AEL:

I've had mine off for the same reason, it was a while ago but I don't remember it being difficult. Get an EGR blanking plate while you're at it.

Pretty much none of it, ael is a 10v.

They are not hard to remove, just make sure the tool is in the bolt properly, not much fun if any round out

The part that I wanted to show in that AAN intake manifold DIY was this 6 mm long hex ball end Allen head socket

I really wouldn't advise using a ball ended socket on a steel bolt in an aluminium head that hasn't moved for a decade or two.

                  sorry for the late bump!..

But, does the EGR plate require a gasket? or just bolt strait to metal?

Also,.. will the inlet manifold require a new gasket too? and if so, where best to get (a good) one?

No gasket for an egr plate.
Just put one on mine, careful removing the bolts though, they tend to bind up and snap if you force them too much.

Hi.What would be the gain of blanking the EGR? Thanks

the inlet manifold won't get dirty again from the exhaust gases.. so you don't have to clean it again..
