drum to disc conversion

Can a rear axle with drums originally be upgraded to discs in a plug&play manner? Or do i need to change the axle altogether? Thank you !

Another consideration is the brake master cylinder. It must be sized appropriately to work effectively on the rear disc vs drums setup. If you have an opportunity to do so & the parts are coming off of a vehicle that had both drums or disc installed in its model line it would be best to get all the relevant components. Also consider any brake biasing valves that may be present between the two different systems.
