Interesting - anybody got any testimonials about the benefits seen in the real world on the S2. What I'd like to see is before and after intake air temperatures (IAT) during high boost test runs.
I guess we'd configure the system to activate somewhere in the region of 0.5 to 1 bar of boost.
I imagine you could drink a fair amount of water during prolonged use... I just see it as a way to reduce IAT which is always good as it reduces chance of knock - especially with the poor excuse for fuel which my car gets to drink.
I use this system on my car and add a small % of alcohol (which is in the screen wash) it works fine comes in at 1.1 bar just to give the top end some protection
When on the rollers you can clearly see the temperatures come down as the turbo changes colour, if your injectors are right on the limit the alcohol help top end fuelling too
Here is a quick link on how water increases the knock limit of your engine, which is self explanatory. I am a great believer of it, not only offsets detonation but also keeps all the internal parts clean by removing carbon deposits.
I had a water injection system on my urs4 and it worked very well. I only used it at the track and just used the stock washer fluid resevoir for the water tank, I would use the whole thing in one 30 minute session.
