    Heated Front Screens for saloon/avant

    Hi Guys,

I purchased a heated screen for my UR this week and asked the guy if they did one to fit my RS2. No they didn't but if I could get a group of people together then they could make a batch. The cost would be £300 plus VAT for 10 screens or if we order 20-25 then £200 plus VAT.

If you have had one of these on another car then you will know that they not only get rid of the frost in the morning but do a great job of demisting as well.

    Anyone interested?

Wonder how the insurance would like it?

Yep my brother used to have a Scorpio with heated screen and it is an excellent feature!

I'd even be tempted if there was a coupe version being mooted (and someone can find a competent fitter for coupe screens!!)

I'd be more tempted if there was a group buy including fitting and electrical work - done by a proven trusted fitter.
I remember 'Stick Insect' trying to drum up enough support for this a year or two ago and not getting enough. Perhaps more people's screens are delaminating now - like mine.

If there was enough interest then coupe and avant/saloon screens could be made and i'm sure we can arrange to have them fitted. But the interest needs to be there!!!!!!

These screens may not make the car go quicker but once you have had one you just HAVE to have them in every car you own.

Iam in if for the 200pounds level and if shipping Stateside is possible.

Question: Do they make them to factory spec as far as the tinting goes any idea on this?

I would be interested for £200

However, I had to have the screen changed in my last Coupe and Autoglass had to have 3 attempts with 2 screens and still never got it to fit properly. Even when they had ordered the correct rivets and tool from Audi.

I had a chip repaired this week and the old chap that came out to do it immediately spotted the S2. His words were something like.....

'Nice car mate, but a b1tch of a screen to replace on those. Those side trims are held on with special Audi rivets and are a complete pain'. He went on the explain about the problems and that plain scared me

                  Cheers n fears

Yep - An absolute ******* by all accounts... Try and find someone that has done one before and is prepared to do it again would be my advice! (Not that I have changed the screen on mine or anything. I think I will put up with the de-lamination for now... )

BTDT, on my old coupe 2.3e.

I got it changed at Billy Smarts Circus, erm hang on, make that Autoglass. Same thing really.
Bunch of complete clowns, I watched in amazement as one of them walked towards the car with the sealant gun, tripped and ran a nice bead of sealant across the bonnet.
They only used 5 rivets per side instead of the 14/15 they should have done, "and" after getting the passenger side trim wrongly lined up, proceded to try and slam the door closed moving the window out by at least 25mm.
All that for around IIRC, £600 fitted.

And when do you reckon a local stealer last changed the screen on a 10-15 year old coupe?

These days most of the mechanics working at the stealers wouldn't know what an S2 was if it ran them over. This sweeping generalisation is based on those in Cambridgeshire and Northern France, but I bet it runs deeper than that
