Point of order on this area...

The intent here was to make an area where anyone announcing a group purchase could place status and whatever updates that all interested parties needed to know.

It is not supposed to be the place where everyone replies with "I'll have one". Correspondence of that nature should go DIRECTLY to the person priming the group purchase.

Just no point in clagging up this board with 'me too' as it makes it hard for people to find potentially important updates buried in the pile.

    Gurn complete for now...

Can probably do this by setting up a poll and clicking if you are interested. sure it can be set up to record who has clicked it.

Yeah - I'll work with Mik and see if we can think up a better way. I agree it is useful for members to see how much interest there is in various purchase prospects, but not in the current method !

The easy way: the thread creator could setup a poll on his thread, that way he (and everyone else) could see how much interest is there. And then use PM's for the "I'm in" responses and questions to make a list of everyone who is commited.

The hard way: let me think about that...

          Cheers Mik!!

Apologies if the method I used was crude!! but I get about 70-90 mails a day, and having all the replies to the one topic in one place, makes it MUCH easier for me to keep track of who wanted what.

This way when the parts are ready, I can instantly find exactly who wanted what and everyone can see at a glance what the state of play is.

I consider myself slapped on the wrists!

P.S I'm sure I can make up for it with all the bandwidth I'll be paying for when people down load the videos that Doug has off my personal web space!!

            Martyn,

As explained on the phone - wasn't having a dig - am just perplexed that there is no obviously easy way to do this on the board. Unless there is a way to create a NON anonymous poll...

Not that this helps, but we can delete posts/threads, so after the buy is done we can always just delete it all to keep things tidy.

I'm looking into a non-anonymous poll, but I think that's something I'd have to code out...

Martyn, I wasn't having a dig either... I'm just trying to help PN sort things out...

how about the first person replies:

                1) Alistair C

                the next person replies:

                1) Alistair C
                2) Mr x

                third person replies:

                1) Alistair C
                2) Mr X
                3) Billy Bob

                ..... you get the idea.
Then every so often a mod just deletes averything between the first and the last.

Just a thought. Hope I haven't used up too much bandwidth

Cheers guys, I know you were not having a dig, I was explaining the rational behind why I did what I did.
