Potentail group buy - Rear Tie Rod

    Guys,

As usual the a*se end of the car is siezed up when it comes to anything related to tracking and I noticed the rubber cover is about to split on both rear tie rods so i guess its time to change....

After almost passing out at the cost of a single rear tie rod from Audi....ch-ching £91 ex vat I thought I would check with GSF, who don't carry it.

The guy at my local GSF is a top bloke and has suggested he call Lemforder directly on Monday to see how much they would be as a special order as its not something GSF carry but is happy for his branch to order direct

So, once I can confirm he can get hold of them and what the price will be, if anyone is interested shout and I can see how much he can flex the price for a pair.

    Cheers,

    David

Just bought both tie rod assemblies on my S4. Got mine from http://stores.ebay.de/Verschleissteile-direkt I think it came to around £120 for both incl. shipping from Germany. Might be worth seeing if he's got the ties for the S2 then you could get a shipping discount as well.

If it comes together then sure i am happy to sort out shipping

Are those tie rods not for the fronts? The GB would be for the rears...

I took my rear tie rods off of the car and managed to unsieze, strip clean and repaint them.

The end ball joint rubber boots were fooked but the joints themselves were good, so I used THESE from this guy on ebay (NCTS) and they worked a treat. The pack also comes with lower ball joint boots which I refurbed too. A little work saved me a good few quid

i might be interested Corey depending on what comes of the conversation tomorrow. To be honest I'm happy with the stock tie rod, its lasted 15 years on the car and there is no history of replacement, so it's served it's time. Just out of interest what are the benefits of the one you are/have sourced over the oem version?

@Mark - hmmm that might be worth a punt will have to pull the old ones off and see what state they are in and if they can be saved.

got the costs back from GSF, 4 week lead time and £69 plus the dreaded so not the bargain I was (or the GSF guy for that matter ) was hoping for. Vagparts are about £75 +vat so not enough of a difference to make any decent saving.

@Mark, with the dust boots, what did u use to secure them to the joints? I PM'd the seller and asked if he supplies the little clips but he doesn't - did u reuse or improvise?

                    Cheers

Has anybody used the Achtuning ends to confirm...

they would firt and work properly on S2 cars? Does the B5 S4 rear suspension really use similar componenets or is this wishful thinking at best.
