Ok, I will let you know about the rack, not sure we can sell the parts
    separate so I will see.

    Thanks,

I also spoke to Ricardo today, who politely declined - apparently not the kind of service they are able to offer. I'm sure it would have been mega bucks anyway if they could.

Would defiantely be good to hear what Sellholm can do Alex

          got an reply from Sellholm:

          Hej
Tyvärr har vi ej möjlighet att skicka lösa delar
dels på grund av att "skarvningen" av piniong och
          gör med krympning/svetsning.
Dels också pga av krav från ZF att vi ej sålde lösa delar till deras
          styrväxlar.

          Hello
unfortunaly ther is not possible to send the parts loose, because "the gap between pinion and rack is made with welding/crimnping( make something smaller, what´s the word?) And ZF wont allow us to send parts loose from their racks.

My man JAvad answered me this:

Hey Alex, ok, what we can do is supply the raw parts, but its not a
whole lot cheaper. Also, we cannot supply exact instructions on how to
do the installation, but I'm sure a member on the S2 forum can perform
it and draw up some instructions. The parts by themselves are $750, if
you can sell at least 10 sets I can offer for $695, shipping is not
included and can be varied by each customer. These parts are very
expensive to manufacture, so the cost is not really cheap I know, but as
you can tell from the response of Quaife this is not the most simple
part to manufacture correctly. The ratio is 2 turns lock to lock. If
you think you can get 10 interested parties, let me know and I can set
            up an official group buy.

Ouch! Fair play to Javad and I can understand its a difficult part to manufacture but at that price I have to say its too much for my budget unfortunately

I would still be interesting to know if the LHD and RHD parts are the same for reference anyway, at least we would know if there was a solution for the RHD cars, maybe one day........

Here's a useful anecdote that surprised me today... Driving the S2 for 1st time in ~3months as the V6Q is laid up waiting on some parts - the S2 definitely has a quicker rack than the V6 and I'm not sure I'd want it to be any quicker on the road - gotta say it felt just about right to me... Sure some more 'feel' would be nice but thats a separate issue. I didn't think I would notice the difference as much, but there you go. Luckily my tired old rack on the V6 has a replacement from an S2 avant coming sometime soon.

The V6 coupes have the same rack as the ABY, pity the V6 saloons & avants didn't get them.

I've had the same experience after driving the Avant for a few months, got back in the CQ and the first thing i noticed was how much lower geared the steering is. It does feel more sensitive in that the steering is lighter, and you can make finer adjustments. But the S2 rack is much nicer at speed. I also noticed the S4 is silly low geared too, anybody know if the S6 has the same ratio?

Anybody got a spare aby rack then?

Any info on the difference, ie saloon v6 2.8 turns lock to lock, s2/v6 coupe 2.6 turns?

Bet a three point turn was interesting though.

Mind u, in a BM you just squeeze the pedal on the right. :mischeif:
