    SQ Exhaust manifold replica

Hi, i during a search i did some time ago i was wondering if it would be possible (Äsince the SQ manifold would no longer produced) to make a copy of it with D5S Ni-Resist material.

I asked over here in Greece and they said that it would cost approx. 800 Euros (with all machining done ect).

They said though that they need a minimum unit number so that the moulding would pay out.

Is there any interest about something like it?

    cheers

Two things: Carsten Wagner's RS2 EVO manifold already out flows the original sport quattro EM. Plus if I remember correctly he is doing a SQ replica that flows even better than the RS2 EVO.

Carsten's RS2 EVO manifold is actually very good, BUT cannot facilitate turbos bigger than the GT3076R without bashing the inner fender or doing some serious metal work to fit. The SQ he is going to make was ment to be used with bigger turbos. However that EM is long due and according to him unkown if it will be ever produced.
I really wanted to get one in time for my project, but as there were no guarentees that it would be made, i ended up with the SQ.

If there is an amount of people that are interested i can volunteer my SQ as a unit for the mold.

Billman: would the consistency of the materials be as the original one? and would the 800euros be the cost of each manifold to sell? it seems a bit high

he also told me that if the number is bigger than 10 manifolds then the price will go at around 700 euros maybe a bit less.

              @Lupo

what would the price be for this SQ manifold you make?

Billman, I am pretty sure that Wagner SQ replica will be much better in performance and lifetime then the SQ copy you are getting made.

check these flow results from motorgeek:

it has been discussed before that those flow charts are not giving a correct example of what really happens because the EM is working differently on an engine which fires 1-2 pistons at a time. As a crude comparison it seems to be flowing better. But on the other hand the SQ has been tested and works,so it is still a good solution for 500+hp

A real SQ maybe yes, but if you make a copy from ductile it will not last as long when pushing it to the limit I think........

no no, the idea is to use the excact same material as the original one. The amounts and substances are known. Its only a matter if it is worth it.

Well, with Carsten's SQ replica EM coming up I think you have the answer for your needs then. No more need to make a SQ copy anymore.

                          true, depending on the price!

i already have a SQ manifold,as the price was right and the item came up for grabs when Carsten wasnt really sure IF he was going to put it into production. Now that it will happen, depending on needs,it will be an option!

the question still remains. How much will Carstens SQ - Replica cost?

I guess this depends on the moment when they start producing and what will be the day price of the materials used for the cast. Once this production has been completed I think Carsten can tell the final price for it.
