I forgot on Autoclave prepeg composit you need aluminium mold not to twist with the high temp and pressure and this will cost thousands of £

      Yep

Thats what makes it expensive. The quality is outstanding though.

I'd be interested in a stock looking one. It would be nice to get rid of the old chipped one. How easy would it be to paint?

I'll be keeping an eye on this. I've got a brand new OE bonnet at work as I want to replace mine (couple of dings on the front and stone chips all over). Could also do with a pair of wings.

                  Hi Everybody,

I see that the stock bonnet generates lots of interest. I will start sorting out the things with this workshop and will keep updated.

If anybody interesting in other carbon bits-interior mostly let me know.

                  Cheers

Very interesting indeed! The proper end of the car to be losing weight from.

While we do lots of tooling from aluminium it's usally the loose bits, the main area of large panels are usually made by machining patterns from tooling block (we use something called LAB973) and the moulds are made from pre preg and autoclaved, the the parts are then made from pre preg in the pre preg moulds (are you following this?!!) - we achieve excellent fit and quality ...but it's the expensive way of doing things! Not much likelihood of getting S2 bonnets done in-house.

I like the look of a CFRP bonnet, what sort of prices are they running at right now?

Painting CFRP - after the process of de nibbing and other getting rid of sharp bits, you need to use a high build up primer and filler so that the paint doesn't sink into the little holes! I'd prefer painted over plain for a bonnet.

Anyone doing replica RS2 bumpers? I have the factory item but I think CFRP would be lighter and stronger...

                            Hi Everybody,

                            Just an update.

As I can see there is a few persons interested in c/bonnet. As festive season on our doorstep I think to progress further (costs, time and etc) after New Year. Will keep posting if anything comes through.

Just one quastion: are the bonnets on coupe and avant or saloon are the same? As there is people with coupe, saloons and avants.
