  • AP brake kits

    Hi folks,

I've posted about this before but maybe in the wrong forum

AP Racing make the "Formula" range of big brake kits, including S2.

My buyer at work currently has these at 23% off list price for individual purchases, but an order of five kits attracts 25% and more can mean a bigger discount still. 25% amounts to about £1,200 including VAT - a saving of £400 over the normal retail price.

Kits are 4 pot calipers and normally supplied with drilled discs, but grooved discs have been offered as an option (which although noisier will last a bit longer).

The kits are complete with everything you'll need: discs, disc bells, calipers, caliper mountings, pads, braided flexi hose, all nuts and bolts, and brake fluid.

Please note, you will need at least a 17" wheel to fit these brakes - check to make sure you can get them under your rollers as they can vary!

I'm looking to buy one of these kits and I would like to know if anyone else wants to swell the numbers? We can purchase as a unit and get them delivered to work, and the shipping for individual sets will need to be arranged from there.

    PM me if interested

Wouch - thats a healthy discount - but still too rich for my blood. It *IS* a very nice kit though - I've handled the calipers before.

Anyway - reason for the post is cos I recall you are in the motosport biz - howsabout a GP on aeroquip style brake lines with a suitably reputable supplier ?

From memory there are companies like Goodridge who produce a kit for the Audi Coupe, but it only has 4 hoses instead of 6. The kit should be generic for whatever folk have done regards front brake upgrades, as its a solid hose which connects the caliper.

    Just a related thought !

      Hi there Paul,

Yes it's a great kit with a BIG discount - so, folks... DROP ME A LINE!!!!

Remember we can go even lower if the numbers get higher. I need some feedback on this one, soon as you can guys!

We used Goodridge in our F3 days at Tom's GB, partly because we had Jamie Davies as one of our drivers and his father Ron owns Turnspeed Engineering who actually make the fittings.

We later used Earl's for a lot of hose on the sportscars including Bentley. Easy to find as they're based at Silverstone circuit, and generally they can do a decent job of bespoke parts.

The UK arm of Earl's is also part of Alan Docking Racing, Docking's do bespoke radiators and intercoolers at decent prices (quoted me around £300 for an i/c suitably sized for RS2 or better).

We also used AN (that's the company name) on the later Bentleys - partly due to better pricing on the whole project cost and being able to deliver complete car kits on time (that means fuel, oil, brake and anything else that needs hose or hardline).

Earl's would definitely be happy to make kits to whatever spec you want - and a multiple order would definitely make them sit up and take notice. I know some of the guys and girls there so dealing with them would have good potential results. I can certainly ask them what they'd think about manufacturing kits.

OK - can you post a POLL message on the Group Buy section to see what kind of interest this arouses.

Will do! Brakes first, I need to speak about pipes to the Earl's folk.

Paul, do you want to PM me about what constitutes a good kit of bits for the pipes?
