Converting OBD from 2x2 connection to 16pin OBD-2 plug

It took me ages to find the original thread for this. Which is not surprising given the original thread name etc.
So hopefully here it is again but now re-filed somewhere easier to find in the future:

    Thanks!
So does it do what it says on the tin? Anybody BTDT?
Ok, so you can make one, but I like the idea of a factory assembled part.

As in which wire is which in the car? Not off hand but can look it up, on an ABY the K and L line are inside the fusebox to the left, two small 8mm nuts. Looked into this recently as i added two more connectors inside the glovebox so i can drive with vagcom connected

Whats your car, 3B or ABY?

              White Connector(T2Z)

              Pin 1 L line
              Pin 2 K Line

              Upto 7/93
              T2z/1 Green/Blue
              T2z/2 Green/Red

              From 7/93
              T2z/1 White
              T2z/2 Green

Have a look at the connectors in the fuse box and trace the wires to the two 8mm posts beside them.

The black Connector is + and - so it dosent really matter where you get them from. Having said that i wired mine into the same place as the original connectors, from memory its in the wiring diagram for something completely unrelated, i'll keep searching and add them in when i find it.

Found it, buried in the radiator fan schematics. Its shares fuse S21 in the main fuse box with the after run coolant pump, connection labelled M30ac on the bottom of the fuse box. Red/Black wire. I remember this being the tricky bit so i looked at a spare fusebox to figure out the connector as you cant see squat in the car.

Earth wire (Brown) connects to the body above the bonnet release. You should see a stud with a bunch of earths on it.

                Black connector (T2X)

                Pin 1 is -
                Pin 2 is +

So will this communicate with a CAN device (limited info of course)? I know you can hook a VAGCOM to the 2X2

No an S2 has no CAN devices it simply removes the need for a 2x2 adapter
