  • URGENT - Potential fire hazard

Please follow the link below to a safety related issues that I just discovered tonight. This is not a joke. It indicates a flaw in the wiring loom of ALL Audi 80 variants with the factory fitted headlamp washer system.

I am going to test this further, to confirm my findings before reporting this to Audi and anyone else who will listen to me.

Thanks Paul. I will remove mine for the time being as I don't like the washer anyway....

    Cheers and good spot!

you can get relays with fuses built in so that you don't have to modify the wiring i think lucas do them
      1. SHORT SHIFT KIT
      2. PORSCHE CAYENNE CALIPERS
      3. H & R SPRINGS
      4. BILSTEIN SHOXS
      5. NEW BUSHES AND HP2 STRUTS
      6. UPRATED HIGH OUTPUT COIL PACK
      7. ,3" turbo back s/s/ exhaust
      8. fmic fitted

Hmmm, another way to melt everything, the wiring to the fan had a fault/short and the current draw melted the fuse box and provided me with a £550 bill a few days before a holiday in the first year i had the car...

I had a fusebox meltdown a couple of years ago. There was no sign of a cause other than the notoriously dodgy fusebox itself.

Yer I know but I dunno if they are pin compatible with this one. Its not a standard SPST relay. The activation mechanism for the relay is lights on AND washers on - so two inputs are used by the relay to determine when to 'squirt'... that and a timer is built in as well - so you get a same sized squirt on the lights however long you hold the wahers on for the windoes.
