Gearbox upgrade?

reassuring to know how strong my gearbox is on the UR Q...
Will there be issues mating the ABY engine to the 016 gearbox???

Just check the size of the spigot/needle bearing on the ABY, pretty sure its a different size than the input shaft on the 016. Or you'll end up spending a day wondering why the engine and box wont mate up properly like i did LOL.

is it the thrust bearing mated to the pressure plate???
i've yet to look at the input shaft and clutch assembly on quattro systems as i'm used to simple peugeot french designs!

is it a case of using the ABY flywheel and a different pressure plate and bearing??

Its the bearing thats pressed into the flywheel/crank, the older engines were bigger/smaller cant remember which and think they were pressed into the crank where as on the later engines its pressed into the flywheel, i may have got this the wrong way round, anyway it was an issue when fitting an RR engine to spinks 100 avant.
They can be pulled out anyway and the correct size one fitted.

So if I am understanding right.
- The 5 speed S2 gearbox can only take 310 Nm (according to magazine reviews)?
- The old urQ has a better 5 speed but does not physically fit in the S2 (according to magazine reviews)?
- The first 6 speed S2 gearbox is only slighter better or perhaps even worse than the 5 speed S2?
- The "evolutution" 6 speed S2 gearboxes that came up later are better?
- The RS2 6 speed gearbox is better than all S2 gearboxes?
- The urQ is even stronger/better than the RS2 gearbox?
- There are no Quaife (or similar) "making stronger" kits available, like you can find for Cossies?
- Howabout the diffs?

PUglife, I did fit my ABY to my UR about TEN years ago!!
So memory abit haisey.. Definately used 10Valve flywheel and clutch, and this is the bit thats haisey just bought new spiggot bearing for a 10v and tapped it into the ABY crank.I seem to remember..... I'm sure someone will dry bum my info... but its goes like bloody hell and 90.000 miles later it still works!!
